Could you help me with a couple of acupuncture questions please?
1. Has anybody had acupuncture for achilles tendon problems and if so, did it help?
2. If acupuncture has helped anybody (with any issues), was it a temporary fix requiring regular acupunture sessions going forward or was it cured for good?
I'd be grateful for your comments 🙂

Thanks for your reply Old Floss, it's good to know that acupuncture helped you and that you didn't need to have many sessions. I have been to a specialist and had electrotherapy which did improve things but I'm still left with some pain. I must admit that I stopped doing the exercises I was given because I felt they were doing more harm than good - I don't know if I should have just worked through them regardless but I'm considering acupuncture now and your feedback was helpful, thank you
Hi Cherie65, I had a painful Achilles tendon for several months. My sports physio treated with some acupuncture along with vigorous massage to the area and gave me some strength & stretching exercises to do at home along with continuing the vigorous massage. I can only remember having acupuncture treatment once but it may have been twice. Physio explained the Achilles is encased in a sheath & the two can become stuck together, the vigorous massage helps to free them & to desensitise the area. I was getting pain when wearing my walking boots as they put pressure on the Achilles. I felt that the boots were doing some part of the vigorous massage & certainly weren’t going to make things worse so started wearing them again & very quickly the problem eased. Very occasionally now, I get the odd sore sensation in the area but haven’t needed any further treatment.
Please remember we’re all individuals & your issue may be different to mine, so please get advice from a professional before trying any treatment. Good luck, hope you get it sorted soon 🤞🏽
I did not know until I read your reply that some sports physios use acupuncture - that's really good to know! I am definitely going to see if I can find one in my area because I like the idea of combining physio with acupuncture, I think that might really help me. I'm glad that you are now mostly better and thank you very much again for your reply.
My first ever experience of acupuncture was at the physio appointment, I had no idea they did it either so it was a complete surprise. I didn’t have time to overthink it & work myself into a panic (I hate needles 😫)so I said yes in the spur of the moment. I’ve had a few acupuncture treatments for various ailments now & all are recovered. Top tip, DON’T MOVE when the needles are in. I thought they were all removed & flexed my leg! Very uncomfortable & a very strange sensation 🤣 Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Hi I have been getting to acupuncture treatments twice a month for over 10 years. It helps with vertigo, migraines and stress. I occasionally get it for back pains and it does help too. I would definitely recommend it for a range of issues.
Thank you Verovero, I really didn't know what to think about acupuncture but you and others have had good experiences and I'm going to give it a go, so thanks again.
