headphones/ earbuds

Hello,

I've lost my motivation! I know I will feel better once Ive started running again. One of the reasons is because I want to find earbuds/headphones that will work for me.

I used to use earbuds but have become allergic to the tips, has anyone else experienced this? if so how did you overcome it.

For those that use headphones, what type would you recommend, without breaking the bank.

Any help to get this girl back on the road is appreciated!

thank you ☺️

Hi there. Getting the right headphones is so important. I also have a problem with earbuds and they always fall out if I'm running.

I use headphones that hook over the ears and sit on your ears rather than in them. Very good sound and very secure for running. The last ones I ordered are here:

amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09...

Let me know if that link doesn't work for any reason.

There are various versions available for £20-30, some possibly cheaper.

If you're careful putting them on and off then they last for ages. Eventually the bendy bit that goes round the back of your head can break where it joins the phones.

I'm sure other people will have suggestions as well, so hopefully you'll have a choice of solutions to your problem.

Hope this is useful! And really help you get your motivation back and can get out there running again very soon.

Best of luck! 👍😀

I've been using Shokz bone conducting headphones for the last 3 years or so. They don't go into your ears, don't even touch them. You wear a thin metal band on your head and the speakers sit above your ears.

You can hear what's going on around you which keeps you safer eg if there's traffic. The sound quality is maybe not as good as some products but definitely adequate for running. I'm happy with it but I suppose if you wanted to sit quietly and listen to classical music it might not be good enough.

Yes, they aren't particularly cheap but they're very well made and the customer service is excellent. Mine were replaced without a quibble when I had a problem.

You're less likely to lose or break them so will probably save you money in the long term.

I am a Shokz fan.. I have ears which are small and buds either fall out or become uncomfortable and have caused infection...

They can be expensive bit there are offers... and the thing is, they work and they last. They are brilliant.

Great for running... and also for listening to music too. Great sound reproduction.

I bought the mini...because of my small head .. I love them !

I feel well worth the expense. There are of course other brands of similar headphones...but you do get what you pay for sometimes:)

Please, let us know how you go? x

🍏Morning Kelly I can’t advise you about earbuds as I am deaf and use a Bluetooth device that connects to my hearing aid.

However I can give you a gentle challenge to run “naked” that is without technology until you get the earbuds you want. Start by planning to run slowly for 10 mins after a nice warm up walk. You can do intervals of run/ walk depending on your fitness level. Make a conscious effort to find as many spring flowers as you can.. bulbs , blossom.. leaf buds etc.. what sounds can you hear? What can you feel or smell? Do write a post & let us know & perhaps a photo?

Go Kelly go! You will be so pleased you did!

I'm with Annieapple on this. There is something primeval about mixing with nature and the elements. I love the solitude of running, spending 30 minutes, or however long, in your own personal world free from interruption. The rest of the day will be full of noise and technology and can wait as far as I'm concerned. So perhaps take a time out for a while and listen to your breath, your footfalls, and the whole of nature 🙂🙂🙂🌳🌳🦋🦋

I use the bone conducting headphones nothing in your ear and you can hear traffic and other approaching runners/people etc.

My husband recently bought me a headband with built in headphones that sit on the ear it’s really comfortable and was quite inexpensive compared to other headphones bought on Amazon, supposedly for sleeping in but does the trick!

My husband bought me one of these too 😁 it works pretty well but it makes my hair feel a bit sweaty, no problem if it's going to be washed afterwards. He's had something similar for years and always sleeps in them so they must be comfortable for longer use.

He bought it as sometimes I put podcasts on in the middle of the night when I can’t sleep! Keeping him awake 😂 but I wore it yesterday on a run with my sunglasses on which I find difficult to wear with the bone conducting ones, so technical 🤣
