I’m a bit confused…isn’t week 5 run 2 5 mins walk, 8 mins run, 5 mins walk, 8 mins run, 5 mins walk? I can’t figure how that fits with what you’ve done in your picture?
I walk for a mile 1st as a warm up then do the C25K then walk again
What a great run you had, well done, is the next run Wednesday?
yes
Buzzing at the moment but let’s see how it goes
Kevin, it's simple, don't over think it.
I've gotten into grief for saying this before, but I stand by it, Week 5 Run 3 is, unless you have an underlying medical issue, purely psychological.
The program has been preparing your body, YOU now need to break the psychological barrier that is your head saying you can't run for that long, you can.
The first time I looked at C25K I was doing mainly HIIT on the treadmill, one minute sprint then one minute walk, repeat.
I saw the progression and then saw W5R3 and thought that's impossible BUT, when I did then try the program about 2 years later, I went into it with an open mind and used a secret that I'm going to tell you (and only you - so everyone can stop reading this bit).
If you get to the point where your head is saying you have to stop, LIE to yourself, I'll stop in a minute, just one more minute, before you know it, 20 minutes have passed.
Just control your breathing (I find belly breathing the best) and try to think of other things but if those Gremlins start telling you that you have to stop because you can't continue, then lie to yourself and tell yourself you'll stop in one minute, repeat until finished.
You can do this.
Congratulations 🎉
good luck! I’m sure you can do it… I was in the same position a few weeks back. I completed week 9 run 2 today (only one left). Like others have said, the first long run is purely physiological…. Just take it all as it comes and pace yourself slow. You are doing brilliant!
