Well retro runners, you’ve all been waiting and wondering what ‘theme’ is up next. Well actually as far as I can tell only UnfitNoMore is sitting wondering what the next one is.
And so it is ‘Birthday Number Ones’ - what was the tune at number one on the day you were born? And if it is really rubbish and you actively dislike it - (for example Joe Dolce and Shaddauppa your face) then you can choose any one of the remaining top ten tunes on your birthday as your choice.
And if you were born before an official pop chart - maybe choose one song from a milestone birthday instead.
Spoiler alert - I used the ‘swap’ option as my birthday number one is particularly cringeworthy...
I looked up the most popular song in the year I was born, 1946, no chart then but the most popular song 🎵🎼🎶that year was Prisoner of Love sung by Perry Como. I just listened to it on YouTube, a romantic ballad not really suitable for running.
Thankyou for including my suggestion of The Spencer Davies Hit of the 60's Keep on Running in The Retro Birthday Number Ones Spotify list. I have now downloaded it on my Smartphone. It's also on my laptop, the difference between the two is on the laptop you can go straight to your favourite track but on the Smartphone you only get 10 seconds unless you are on Premium. If I go running or a long walk I will have those songs with me in full on my Smartphone. UnfitNoMore is missing out on not having Spotify as he is missing such classic hits as Barbie Girl by Aqua which is on that list of Birthday Number Ones.
how utterly irritating you are!!!! I was about 12 when that came out and I had pics of Marc on my bedroom wall. how I wish I was in my 40s and not my 50s - did you sneak a peek at my Spotify profile though? Because you could have seen the start of the list...
can't be annoyed at you for long though, because Metal Guru well it’s just fab.... and I got t limit your choice to just one track...
Hi Jan...ive been looking forward to this too so i dont know how ive missed it??!! My birthday number one is Tommy James and the Shondells 'Mony mony' which i have to say i didnt know until i looked it up!! I love the song too & i can just imagine running along to it as it has a good beat...cant wait for this one to be published now!! Whoo hoo xx
It is most definitely in - I checked mine out and it was utter rubbish, so chose a replacement and it’s even worse...I think I want to be like that Dutch guy who is appealing to change his age!!
