what should I do next?

Good evening everyone…… so here I am on Week 7 run 1 and suddenly I am not sure how to face finishing C25K. I can’t imagine just going out there and running. I seem to need the voice in my ear and I still feel weird about maybe doing parkrun alone….. any thoughts please?

Well done, you are never alone at parkrun but I understand, it took me ages and meeting VRB'S from here to get me to my first parkrun. Try the Nike Run Club app, there are hundreds of guided runs on there and although not to everyone's taste there are different coaches, I love that they talk to me every so often

Thank you for the advice…. Good to have a plan for the new year and it’s great to have support here.

Totally understand, I felt the same way. Try the Nike Running Club app. It's free and you don't have to buy any Nike stuff to use it.It has loads of guided runs, including plenty of gentler and shorter runs so you can build up your distance and time sensibly.

Your first few weeks should be spent consolidating what you've achieved in C25K, I'm sure you'll get lots of advice on that.

Good luck and keep running 😁

(I accidentally posted this on someone else's post (which will be deleted). I've had one of those days lol)

Thank you for your reply, I’m definitely going to have a look at the Nike app and looking forward to continuing after I finish C25K

🍏🤣You are not alone! Many of us couldn’t bear to run without our coaches! We will help you when you graduate to think about what’s next. Lots of options including the helpful ones already mentioned! Have a peep at the Graduates chat..

This is a good question. I struggled with that being alone (without Jo !) thing too .

On the consolidation runs I just used the week 9 runs again. Felt a bit odd but worked. You could try one of the other coaches just to be a bit different. It’s hard to wean yourself off the encouragement and praise!!

Enjoy week 8&9. Tell us how you get on.

I have been running this now for about 18 months and still haven’t done a park run. I cannot seem to get my act together to get to the park at 9 am on a Saturday morning. I still run on a Saturday and sometimes even in the park. I actually like the solitude of running - my space to do and think how I like. I mix it up a bit with NRC and sometimes go back to the lovely Jo Whiley for a change. Sometimes I run further than others and sometimes faster than others It’s all running and all I know is I feel much better for getting out there. I’m no athlete to give advice but for what is worth I just follow Stevie Nicks advice and go my own way

Hiya,I totally understand how you feel. There is a big step between finishing C25K and doing a Park Run, there really is. For me I knew I could run the 5K but I was completely thrown by running with other people and runners who could do the course in 17 mins against my 50 mins. I wish I had thought about this before I was lined up at the start. It goes without saying that everyone at Parkrun is just lovely and I was encouraged and cheered on . However, I was haunted by the fat girl I was a school who couldn't do sport.

Maybe, finish C25k and see how you feel. I still do week 9 run 3 often on my own at my own pace but I quite like Parkrun for a bit of a challenge. For me, I think there is no hurry so take your time with your running and go at your own pace, just enjoy it and smile.
