The run I have learned to dislike the most!

It may seem a strange one but I really dislike W6R1, every time I've done the program I've disliked this run more and more.Woke around 4:30, tried to doze for a bit but decided it wasn't happening after laying there watching Mrs LeeU sleep for just over an hour.

Headed downstairs just after 7:15, asked Alexa to turn the treadmill on and play Greatest Hits Radio and pulled the C25K app up.

The first 5 minutes jogging was hard, couldn't get into a rhythm (as is the c ase with this run for me).

The 8 minute segment wasn't as bad and then the second 5 minutes was felt about 30 minutes long (no, I didn't run for longer).

It's probably because I know I dislike this run my head played tricks again.

Another one down, onwards!

Happy running everyone!

🍏You may dislike it but you did it!! Well done! Yes agreed, running is all about conquering the mind as well as the legs!! You did both today! Onwards & upwards!

This run catches runners out more than any other in the programme. You’re most definitely not the first person to dislike the run and you won’t be the last! For me, it was a combination of where the intervals fell (just as I was getting into my stride) and having had such a nice time on the previous run that made it not much fun.

Onwards and upwards! There’s only one more with intervals and then you’re on to continuous runs. It might be worth taking the next one extra steady at the start and picking up as you warm up. Once again, the walking break can come at an annoying time!

Brilliant! Well done for getting through it - it always feel strange that run doesn’t it after the euphoria at the end of W5. Those gremlins are clever critters we just need to keep them in their place which is easier said than done sometimes. On you go! 💪🏻

Tell you what Lee, as a graduate many times over, you're really selling C25K to any potential newbies out there! 😉🙃

What the mind believes.... hmmm the mind set is the key... positivity is the watch word! Slow and steady maybe? x

Hi Floss, I hope you're well?

My new slow and steady is about 25% faster than my old slow and steady, but it still feels like I'm being slow and steady.

I did try using this speed on previous run throughs (in the early stages, week 1-3 for instance) but struggled to maintain it for more than 3 minutes.

Now I'm hitting 20+ minutes so I know I can complete the program at my current pace, it's just this run, it's always thrown me, W6R2 has also but not to the same degree but we'll find out tomorrow morning (if I'm in a fit state after my gym session later that is).

Yes, it can be difficult to go back to walking intervals after the longer run of the previous week.

We were all talking about how tricky the run is when I did it, so I approached it in a slightly different way. I told myself that everything that went before this run was irrelevant and I now needed to follow instructions and train for something else. I took it steady and the approach worked. I didn’t have any problem with it. I pushed the thought of Week 5 Run 3 right out of my head!

I’ve done the programme twice and this approach worked both times.
