Woke up and it was torrential so my normal running slot came and went and I decided on S&F instead. But, still hoping for a run I waited it out. I've listened to NRC's Rainy Run and taken Coach B's recommendations as an excuse to buy running gear ready for the inclement weather, including a water resistant jacket which is breathable, not a water proof. I'd already bought some waterproof trail shoes in a summer sale and they've been waiting pristine on the shelf for the right conditions. Look out the window, hey it's easing off, yippee, time to warm up and go. 5k this morning, nice and steady, although the legs felt heavy today. Muddy paths to negotiate, streams and big puddles along the lanes, but I'm out and enjoying it. And yes Coach B is right about the jacket, I'm not 'boil in a bag'. Got a cap on too, so my face is protected and my new running leggings which feel perfect. So all in all a good run, my shoes are no longer pristine! But I kept my feet dry. Just as well I got out when I did, as soon after I returned so did the heavy rain. Happy running 🏃♀️
It's raining again....: Woke up and it was... - Couch to 5K
It's raining again....
Well done you... I think i had some leggings like those... they were a slightly warmer weight ones! Cap too... brilliant.. Gotta' love a cap...!
Your run sounds super and you beat the rain too!
That sounds fantastic. I always used to enjoy going out in new gear. Time to sort out my leggings I think.
I went out yesterday as well! I wore my new water resistant jacket and liked it! (Needed to test anyway as I have a race next week and might need to wear it then).
Me too, good luck for your race 🏃♀️
Ooh those are neat looking trail shoes. Mind me asking what make and if you are pleased with them?
They're Salomon Supercross GTX (gortex). I bought last year's model, I think, from Wiggle in a sale. Before that I had Salomon Alphacross GTX which have lasted really well, now demoted to cycling shoes. I've been really happy with them. I think the only difference between the two is the lacing system.
Trail shoes need to be muddy. That’s the law! You’ve got a pretty pair there..,wishing you many happy miles together! Great run…I love a rainy one.
I've been thinking about getting a water resistant jacket - would you recommend the one that you bought?
I got a dare2b Women's Resilient II Lightweight Windshell in their sale, which was well reviewed. When I received it, my initial thoughts were that it was a bit flimsy, however wearing it, I'm really pleased. It keeps the wind out, any light showers at bay plus you don't get all sweaty inside as it's completely breathable. I'm definitely a convert having re-purposed a waterproof cycle jacket before where I was definitely super sweaty inside, not at all pleasant.
