W1 R1 - another restart and a run of three halves

Another restart and a run of three halves – the run, the hour’s cool down walk and the pub!

Good: After a year of issues, 6 weeks of ankle problem, finally restarted (again) today, totally in the mood and up for it. Beautiful warm evening, new super supportive running shoes and socks really helped posture, felt like flying/marching, the run was great, no problems. Arrived home very pleased, yes, I’m a runner again!!

Bad: Aaagh no door key. Usually put it in small holder so can feel it in my pocket. Today in haste to get run done before dark just grabbed loose key on bit of string. It must have fallen out during the faffing while trying to decide on one or two earbuds, and whether to put phone in hand or right pocket or left, switching between options while walking (usually have belt purse to avoid this hassle but forgot that too). Son at meeting on other side of town and not due home for several hours. Retraced steps on the whole route twice, once as dusk fell, once in the dark with my phone torch, looking for a needle in a haystack among the piles of beautiful autumn leaves I'd previously been admiring while running. Naturally my ex had to come past while I was sweaty, dishevelled and kicking piles of dead leaves. After an hour was left with back and shoulder ache from leaning over peering at the ground but no sign of the key.

Silver lining: Off to pub for vegan beer and food - spiced lentil and sweet potato roll with mayo, delicious and very very welcome.

Now back home and thinking the next run should be a doddle compared with this!!

🍏🤗What an adventure to start your first run!! Welcome back to the starting line. A wonderful place to be! Do pop over to Strength & Flex to ensure no more issues with your ankles.

A good run.. despite key loss! You may happen on it on another run? Do, as Annieapple suggests pop across to the S and F Forum too, loads of ankle supports exercises there.

Including some in here..
