Just got back from a lovely run this morning - perfect conditions, warm and still. The dog had seen my get my gear on but stayed on the bed so I thought she wasn’t up for it today. But just as I put my shoes on she came bounding downstairs and sat ready for me to put her harness on! In my/ her haste to get out, it wasn’t until I was halfway through the first 1K that I realised I had left my headband and poobag by the front door😱 both of which are essential kit. Rookie error.
As you can see, the views were lovely, I had my car singalong playlist in one ear (sorry anyone who heard me ‘singing’ to all toons from 7club to Elton) and we were going at an easy pace. First 1K was fastish but not ridiculously, maybe Ebony is finally pacing herself. Someone had replaced the water bowl by the tap in the park, it was gone earlier in the week which meant a new experience for princess Eb drinking from a running tap which confused her somewhat. Normal service resumed today though so a few gulps and we were away again.
I am definitely of the opinion that for me, a still, clear early morning is the optimal time for running. How much of this plays into my head I don’t know, I reckon quite a lot of running is more about the head than the legs ( although they help!) Anyway the 5K was an absolute pleasure this morning. The only drama was literally when we got to the front door, as I unclipped the harness, Eb saw a squirrel and decided that obedience was for woosses and finding where it had gone was more important than rehydration. She’s not earned her graduate badge just yet!
Now having a post shower cuppa and the dog is fast asleep beside me!
Have a lovely Sunday everyone 😊
