๐ก๐ก๐กJust got home from Week 8 Run 2....great timing as the sun has gone in and it's about to rain.
Sometime after darling Denise told me I'd done 20 minutes, my phone rang but I didn't answer it partly because I didn't want to, and partly because I couldn't speak.
So on I jogged...and on and on. No Denise calling 5 minutes or (better still) one minute. So eventually I got hold of my phone...to see the incoming call had paused the app.๐ก Very annoyed and disappointed . SoI jogged a bit further than I had done on W8R1 hoping that that amounted to 30 minutes.
It was especially annoying because I'd been pushing myself to go just a little bit faster...and now I don't know.
If I put my iPhone to silent, will any incoming calls still pause the app? Any tech genius runners who can offer some advice please?
PS - proof (if I needed it!) that runners are a lovely bunch...a young-ish man was running the other way on the same circular route as me through our park. A bit later we passed again....and again. Each time we smiled and waved. The fourth time he came past I was tiring and he was finishing... he bothered to say how well I was doing. So I mouthed 'Couch to 5K' at him and he turned round and jogged my last 50 or so meters with me to encourage me to keep going. How kind!
What a lovely young man ๐ I think you can schedule do not disturb to stop your ringing phone to stop the app. Well done you, enjoying those longer runs
Totally understand your frustration. So annoying waiting for cues that donโt come.
But the key thing is that all the benefits of that run is still there. If you did 29 minutes or 32 minutes, it also certainly doesnโt matter at this stage (๐คซ) and your body had a lovely workout in the sunshine. Plus you had a wonderful example of just how lovely and friendly the running community is, with your spontaneous running buddy at the end.
Youโre almost finished with C25K and then you can run with a bit more freedom. So count this as a little taster of the wonderful things to come.
Perfect way of looking at it - thank you for re-adjusting my grumpy attitude!
I transferred to the podcasts maisiesgranny for that exact reason. I know you don't get the choice of coach but they don't pause like the app does. I was running for nearly an hour on run 1 week 1 because of it ๐คฃ ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐คธโโ๏ธ
Good grief - an HOUR on your first run. I can't decide if that's amazing or suicidal - ha ha. Congratulations though - awesome. Perhaps you're not really the "couch" bit that most of us started off as. Forgive my ignorance but what are the podcasts you mention...they sound like they could be the way forward. Thanks!
Both maisiesgranny ๐๐ I didn't realise I'd been so long until my wife commented. I was just relying on the fact the app was timing me and never looked at the clock on my phone. It was on the second day when I walked the 5 minutes to the area I was running in and it told me I still had 4 minutes of my warm up walk left that I realised there was a problem so I monitored it and sure enough every time I turned the screen off it paused. Had to run with it in my hand with the screen on that day and downloaded the podcasts after that. Laura was as good as Sarah Milligan narrating; Sarah never cracked one joke ๐๐
I think if you search on this forum there's a link. I found them the other day through this forum. They are exactly the same as the app only downloadable and play the same way as your music.
If I try to download them to my laptop they just open in another window whereas on my phone they downloaded the whole file. I'm probably doing something wrong on my laptop though.
