Oooo you lucky thing. I, personally, would not buy running trainers without having a gait analysis done at the same time by someone who knows their stuff. Their advice and help is excellent I have found.
Happy Running ❤️ in new trainers
I absolutely recommend gait analysis too. I didn't realise I had a problem until the video revealed all. Look up specialist running shops in your area. Sometimes you need to book, sometimes not. The staff will be well trained on running and what you need for your running style. I had my first pair of properly fitted running shoes recently and they've been an absolute revelation. I would not buy any old trainers for running, it's a really bad move. Happy running 🏃♂️
Hi - absolutely sound advice from Sax64. I used a small independant running shop in my nearest town and then purchased from them too having tried lots on. The chap was so helpful and patient, he was a runner so knew the importance. Guaranteed the brightest beautiful ones you've already spied on the shelf won't be the ones you go home with 🤣. I'm still awaiting that day.
Happy Running ❤️
Hi Mamablue2 , you might find these posts helpful: healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Happy shoe choosing!
🍏A podiatrist helped me with special insoles for flat feet. Changed my life!! I would advise a gait analysis in the first instance.. but if you have any foot problems after wearing your new recommended trainers get some help from a podiatrist.
See what's in your area, somewhere like Runner's World or Runner's Need do gait analysis, or a local sports shop can often advise just by seeing you move with the shoes on your feet, without the fancy treadmill and computer .
Depending on the shop, this is free, you might have to book ahead, or some stores will charge but then refund it if you buy your shoes from them.
I turn over on my heel so I was recommended stability shoes but ended up in neutral shoes because all the stability shoes were too wide for my feet. The ones I ended up with felt like they were made for me as soon as I got them on. The guy in the shop said that that's the best indicator in his experience. Mine are Saucony .
So, try on lots of different makes, run up and down in the shop (yes, really!) and have fun.
Definitely go into a shop where they do the video gait analysis thing. I was wearing £30 Adidas trainers from JD Sports, and whilst I thought they were ok I quite often had to take time off with calf strains and would occasionally get knee and back aches. So I then decided to go to my local running shop. Yes I felt a bit of a fool as it was winter, I was wearing big winter clothes and coats and I was running up and down a shop in the city centre, as well as on a treadmill. Bit I came away with a pair of Brooks shoes with built up support to help with overpronation. They cost £120, but I've been able to run withouth any significant injuries since then - definitely worth the extra time and expense.
Hi, I've just bought a pair of Brooks running shoes from their website and am waiting for them to arrive. The website has a "find your shoe" app that helps you choose what you need. I've gone for cushioned with support. They also have last season versions of some that are £40 cheaper than their newer equivalent. My Adrenaline GTS 22 were £91 with free shipping. According to the site you can try and wear them for upto £90 days and if you don't like them you can return them. Though I've read too that some people have had problems returning so it's a chance it kind of thing If I wasn't socially anxious I would have gone for a gait analysis at a local shop but probably wouldn't have got this pair so cheap either. Good luck with what you do buy
When you’ve bought them, do wear them around inside the house for a few days, just like slippers. Then if you find them not right, there should be no trouble taking them back and swapping for something else
It’s only if you wear them outside there will be problems because then the trader cannot sell them as new
And of course you must post a picture here, for those of us who love shoe porn!
It’s a difficult one to recommend trainers to someone else. Years ago I went into a running store and they filmed my feet while I ran and based on that they gave me a few to try on. I put on a pair of Saucony and I knew these were the ones for me. FF 15 years and I started running again and bought another pair of said trainers. Sooo comfortable, that I just knew these would work ! So I’m either recommending a proper foot film thing or Soucony trainers I’m not sure lol. Price, well last year they were around £140, this year ( I guess they released new colours or something) they were around £80. As an aside, BBC sounds have a radio 4 program called sliced bread where they pick apart the claims of manufacturers and one of them is on running shoes. Examining if the more you pay the better the running shoe. Have a listen, it’s really interesting.
