Ah bugger I think I'll have to take it easy for a few weeks - my broken knee in April meant we had to postpone our Interrailing trip earlier in the year and my husband has begged me not to start running again until we're back from our postponed trip in September. He has a point; my knee feels really weak and as if it might give way when I'm running; possibly not a good sign.

Having thought about it, I think I'll accede to my husband's request - we can't go through all that cancellation / insurance stuff again. However, I am committing to go out & do at least the equivalent of W1R2 3x per week *but* walking fast rather than running, with a view to starting C25K properly in October when we're back. I really want to get back to running but it's not worth the risk.

Thanks for all the support lovely C25K community; I'll see you again in October. Good luck to all the other starters and re-starters and basically everyone xxxx

🍏Your husband is wise & so are you in continuing to do a planned walk in place of the runs!! Excellent because you will keep up the habit of getting out there 3x week & that will make it easier for you to get back into running in the Autumn!! Enjoy your holiday & we look forward to hearing from you again

Don't be a stranger - let us know how the w1 walks are going. Hand on heart, I think you are doing the right thing. Knees are tricky things! (I can also recommend the Active 10 walking app, it gave me the structure I was lacking when I couldn't run, got me out of the door regularly). See you in October if not sooner xx

Sounds like a good idea. I have been tracking my walks and runs on my iPhone and noticed that an 8k walk I did on Sunday was at a faster pace than my week 3 run 1 yesterday. Heart rate raised for both but lower for the fast walk. So you’ll still be getting good exercise without over stressing your knee. Happy recovery and happy holiday 😃

A good walk will give you a strong base when you are ready to run again. Enjoy your travels!

I'm envious of the interrailing. Hubby & I did an interrailing trip in Italy last November and it was absolutely fab. Thoroughly enjoyed it including eurostar on the way home. Bon voyage.
