My last run of week three went well last Friday and although I had not even looked at what week 4 had install for me, I was feeling quite confident for when I was going to start it on Monday.
Life in general has been looking up for me lately since Oscar came into my life. I was initially helping his original mum and dad out by taking him for walks as their circumstances had changed after they got him and they could not give him the time he deserved. (I am now his new mum.
.)
My social life had been on a rapid decline but seemed to suddenly pick up when I started taking Oscar out. People with other dogs just seem to stop and talk and have made a lot of new friends. One has become quite close and we started seeing each other without our dogs 😀 .
We met on Saturday morning and started our dog walk together. Half way through, a group of cyclists were coming towards us at a fair rate so thought it best to put Oscar on his lead. As I stepped into the long grass towards him my foot went down a hole and I fell sideways and twisted my ankle. Both dogs and my friend came to my aid, the dogs not being much help if I was honest, but at least they kept away from the cyclists as they passed.
I tried to stand but my ankle hurt, . . . a lot! With the help of my friend and an old may who lent us his walking stick, we managed to get to a lane nearby and my friend left me sitting on a log with the dogs so that he could go and get his car. Three cars stopped while I was sitting there and asked if I needed any help which was nice. It took an hour for my friend to return by which time my ankle resembled a football and I was then told I was going to A&E as it looked bad. Luckily my neighbor was in and agreed to look after Oscar and his play-mate whole I was there.
After six hours in A&E (mostly waiting for an X Ray), I was told there are no broken bones, its just a bad sprain. With a list of do's and don'ts I was sent on my way with a couple of crutches. I was told it will be two to three weeks before I can put any weight on it and when I asked how long it is likely to be before I would be able to run, the doctor said see how I feel in 3 to 6 months!!!
My aim to get the C25K done by my 40th (end of August) is now well and truly out of reach.
With even walking out of the question, my concern was for Oscar. My friend has insisted that he collects him morning and evening to walk him for me.
True to his word, Sunday morning Oscar was collected and then returned. We sat and chatted and the time flew by. We had some lunch, and then it was time for the dogs walk again. It was early evening before they left. If it was not for the fact he had to go to work, I think we would have done the same thing every day this week but have spent all the evenings talking .
So with great disappointment I will not be giving updates on my running progress for a while but I WILL be back when I can. My friend has said that when I do start again, he wants to try it too so it does not sound like I have put him off of me yet, so fingers crossed. 😍
