Graduated C2 5K in 2016 and couldn't believe I'd done it. It felt great to be "fit" again after heart problems in 2008 stopped me refereeing rugby matches. That and other issues resulted in me piling on the stones (not pounds!) but when we moved "up North" in 2017 I was somewhat lighter and more active but not running. I kidded myself that walking and the occasional gym session was all that I needed to maintain that weight loss and fitness but trouser waist size increase from 38 to 42 was proof that it wasn't.
I tried the C2 5K with one of the local running clubs in 2021 but didn't even get past week 1.
Fast forward to December 2022. Noticed that my heart rate was peaking at over 190bpm, checked bp at rest - 220/90. A&E visit resulted in a 6 day stay and a Pacemaker fitted! Apparently a resting pulse of 45 (it had been that for 40 odd years) isn't as good as some might think. Left hospital weighing 120 kg but following lymphoedema going out of control and a badly sprained ankle reducing mobility my weight crept (raced!) up to 127 in 6 months.
I started the local community trust Fit Fans programme a month ago and prompted by those sessions, I re-restarted C2 5K and am now on week 3. It seems a lot harder than the first time but nonetheless, I WILL COMPLETE it.
Sorry for the diatribe but I felt the need to write down and share a potted history as a reminder for myself of where I have been and where I am going.

Welcome back and well done on you determination and re starting C25K. You definitely will complete it I’m sure. You seem to be very determined. Some times to achieve a goal it has to be hard, and that in itself determines how much you want it. Carry on the way you are going and before you know it you will have completed C25K and you will never look back.
Everyone on this HU forum have been where you are and some have restarted ,some found it harder than others but one thing that we all having common is determination. Never give up and good luck with your running journey.👍😂😂 Don’t forget to post your brilliant running experiences.
We’re a nosy lot and look forward to reading about each others progress and of course if we can help in anyway please feel free to ask👍😂
Really well done for getting out there and C25K-ing again! 🙌 I think almost all of us are in it for health reasons (I mean it's obvious it is good for us, but an "issue" of some sort or another has prompted us ...) But still, thinking and doing are very different, so a huge pat on the back and a "well done, sir" to you!
Thanks for the welcome. 😀. Did the 2nd run of week 3 today, followed by ca45 mins of weight training and an hour of circuit training (part of the cardiac rehabilitation programme). My better half thinks I'm overdoing it!
