W5D3 - it seemed like a big step up

Just completed W5D3 which (like many of us) seemed like a huge step up from day 2 but I completed it (just like many of us here)πŸ‘

Set off about 6:30 so not too hot. Resisted the urge to look at my phone to see 'how much longer' and just kept plodding along.

Feeling really pleased with myself 😁

Congratulations to you WavyPlants on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran

Well done on getting done what is probably the biggest *mental* (not physical) hurdle of the program (aside from actually starting!).

You may find it useful to focus on the *TOTAL* time that you're running (jogging!) for ... If you look at Week 4 and W5R1, and W5R2 - they look like this:

W4R1 - you ran for 16 mins in total

W4R2 - ditto

W4R3 - ditto

W5R1 - you ran for 15 mins in total (yes, 1 min less)

W5R2 - you ran for 16 mins in total

W5R3 - you ran for 20 mins in total

As you can see, that's a fair amount of running time prior to W5R3 - your body was more than prepared for it, but that's not always obvious to first-timers.

It's that total running time and the total amount of time that you're on your feet that builds your fitness - it accumulates with every session. That explains why W5R3 is perfectly do-able - it's just that the mind/brain doesn't see it that way.

Get through Week 6 and then you're onto the home straight of Weeks 7, 8 and 9 :-)

Crack on!

Yes it's definitely a mental thing, probably because it's the first run that has no walking breaks 😳

Well done you...and as Β AlMorr sys, ... do watch out as you move gently into Week 6. Moving back to what folk think of as Intervals again can feel odd...You are ready for this and although it may feel odd, you can do it:)
