Mostly walked my 5k

So, after finishing c25k on a treadmill, the transition to pavement proved difficult — painful. As a recent cancer survivor I decided I would not choose pain and opted to walk most of the 5k on Saturday that I’d set as my goal. I did the 5k with a friend. We walked fast until the last 1/2 - 3/4 mile, then ran slowly to finish. 14:47 pace (per mile), which didn’t seem too bad for mostly walking. Finished pain free. Now to finish the transition to outdoors so I can run my daughter’s school district 5k at the end of September. Thanks to everyone here who advise against PAIN and to SLOW down! I started and finished with a big smile and gratitude to be participating!

Well done you !And yes , we do not subscribe to the old fashioned 'No pain no gain' here .

It's absolutely.. 'No pain No pain'

The transition from treadmill to running outside can be a challenging one , take your time !

There is no rush perhaps try some shorter ones outside?

When you get outside... slow, steady, take everything in and simply enjoy!

Wow, with everything you have been through here you are , out there running 5ks Well done you!!! Your story is funny in a way as I always found the treadmill hard work Im sure the gym owner had it plugged in for me to power his laptop!! Ha Ha!Could not agree more, slow slow slow and more imortantly take in your surroundings just enjoy every precious moment of being outside running or walking!

I have a saying ,many here have heard but this is for you

"Every Run is a Gift, Every Walk is a Miracle"

I know you will get that. My brother is having treatment for lymphoma and I use running to help me through this. Those 30 minutes outside three times a week no matter the weather are my therapy I hope you feel the same.

Have a great day and I hope you look forward to your next run.

Take care,

Jet

Ps I was only kidding about powering the gym owners laptop turns out it was the kettle!!!
