In a moment of weakness, or clarity, depending on your point of view I signed myself up to take part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October, and then started Couch to 5k.
I have just reached half way - completing week 5 run 2 this morning - 6am start!!
I ran for 8 minutes twice - I know I have the first long run coming up next, but the fact that an unfit middle aged male, can go from not running at all to being able to run for 8 minutes (soon to be 20) in just 5 weeks is testament to the app, I don't fear the next one - its a challenge, and I will beat it.
If I can do it so can you!

Congratulations Mr Buttons on starting C25K and getting to run 2 of week 5, you are doing very well indeed, take run 3 of week 5 slow and steady. Although October is still 5 months off I wonder if you will be ready for a half marathon, I do wish you luck for that run but perhaps you should "jeff" that's walk/part of it, that is certainly a great challenge for you,.
Fwiw I ran my first HM distance (with 446m elevation gain) five months to the day from starting C25K. So while it might not be recommended - and in fact I didn't set out to do it, I just kept going - it's certainly do-able.
