Half way

Week 5 run 2 completed yesterday so I'm past the half way point. Boy it was hot and I don't know if run is the correct description, more like a slow jog! I'm so much more positive than in week 3 but a bit scared of the next one. It's so good to read everyone's experiences and know so many have got passed the first 20 minute run. Thanks everyone for sharing.

You'll be fine. Start off slow, keep it slow and if you feel you want to stop, slow down some more!

You can do this!

I'm at exactly the same point as you; I ran my W5D2 today. Bit nervous of the 20 minute run but we've done it all so far so I'm just going to trust the programme. Let us know how you get on!

You are supposed to be doing just a slow jog! It's exactly what you need to complete the programme safely ☺

Just think about the session immediately in front of you. Have fun! 😊

I was as scared of the first twenty minutes run as I was of the first three, five, eight etc🙂 The only difference with these later runs is the added pressure we have because now we WANT to succeed. In the early days we did not really believe we could keep this running lark up... Take it easy, take it slow, you made it this far you will make it all the way 🙂

Please don't be scared about your next run - you are so ready for it. Believe in yourself, you can definitely do it. Please let us know how you get on :-)

All the best.

Hi

Well done ! Yes a " slow jog " is exactly what you should be doing :-)

You are ready for this if you've completed all the other runs, this is as much a mental challenge as a physical one so please try and not to worry too much. Easier said than done, I know , but it is perfectly doable .

You are going to feel so amazing after finishing this one ! Just take it slow and steady, and break it down in your head into smaller chunks if it helps .

You can do this ! :-) xxx

I was very apprehensive about the jump to 20 minutes, having found running for a minute challenging 5 weeks earlier. I took a lot of confidence from what other people had posted here and it was surprisingly straightforward

The programme just works. As long as you go slowly enough you will be fine.

I remember the trepidation before week 5 run 3. The thing is, your body is prepared for it, it's your mind you have to convince. For me that was just too hard and the way I got round it was to run the third run to the second podcast. I knew I could do the 2 X 8 minute runs, all I had to do was keep going through the walk in the middle. Not ideal for everyone but it worked for me :)

I looked at it the same way as McFitty and it worked for me too. Trust in the program and don't be tempted to try and speed up - unless you have a bit left in the tank for the final minute! Good luck - you can do it 😀😀
