I did my first C25K run 25 weeks ago today, and thought I would share my journey now. I am 51, and was woefully out of shape, weighing almost 20stone at the time. I had never run before, well, not since school!

Fast forward to May 24th......

I finished the C25K in March and did my first ParkRun in 36 mins, and I was elated. Last Saturday I did my 8th one. This morning, I ran 5km in 30.22. Last Sunday, I ran 10km without stopping and was absolutely thrilled. I wasn't quick (69.03), but I did it.

I am healthier, 4 stone lighter, and I can actually run!! It's become a part of what I do, and what I enjoy doing. I run 3 or 4 times a week, and I look forward to it.

The C25K programme is where it started for me. I never thought it would have this sort of impact on me though.

That's fantastic and inspiring. By the way, i think 69.03 for 10k is pretty damn good! I just did my 2nd c25k and it was a struggle. However I was in the local woods and the weather was glorious. I used to run all the time until life got in the way. I can't wait to be where you are. Emma 😀

I am sure it will get easier. Life gets in the way, for sure, but somehow the world keeps turning, and the weather gets better.

Keep going , Emma x

Congratulations, WilberJohn ! 🥳 And thanks for sharing your story, which I am sure echoes many of ours. I also love the excitement that comes through your report!

I agree with Emma that your 10K is pretty good - faster than mine, actually, and I don't even carry around extra stones... 😉
