The sun shone, a gentle if chilly breeze swept over anxious brows. I’ll need that later, I thought as Adabeau, I and our two pups stepped out for W5R3.
5 minutes up; start running. Keep thinking of “niko, niko”, breathe, remember small steps, legs? They’re fine, breathe normally, slow down.
Begin chatting to Mr A about work, suggestions and jobs for the garden. I can chat?? Tap, tap, tap of feet on trail. Hear the beautiful blackbird’s song, and the cuckoo calling continuously. Tap, tap, tap. Bluebells are just beginning to tease with a hazy hint of colour, hiding under direct gaze.
Tap, tap, tap; the trail levels out. Now I’m thankful for that breeze. Tap, tap, tap. “You’re doing great, only one minute left, you can do it.” Say what? Almost done? Where did the time go, I could keep running forever?
Tap, tap …. tap …. tap … and walk. Really?
We did it 😀 High five, pat on the back, give the dogs a treat.
No longer walking on trail; walking on air, bouncing, skipping.
We CAN do this, each and every one of us.
Was it 5k? More like 2.5k but who cares, niko niko all the way. Roll on W6 😄
