I’ve just finished week 3 run 3, really proud of myself and planning on starting my week 4 run 1 on Thursday. I’ve seen some horror stories about how hard it is, but I really feel like I’ve made progress doing couch to 5k. I’m going to give it my best shot and hopefully succeed. We’ll done to everyone who is giving this a go!
Starting Out: I’ve just finished week 3 run... - Couch to 5K
Starting Out
Fantastic! You _will_ succeed! This programme will teach you so much if you let it. Just keep doing what you're doing.
Have you read the guide to the programme? So much important info there. I'll find you a link...
Week 4 is a step up from week 3 but you’re absolutely ready for it! Have you done all the runs so far? Let your head catch up to what you’ve already achieved. Sometimes our brains are a bit slow to realise what we’re now capable of. Nerves are normal-just don’t let them get in the way of you just having a go.
Keep it steady and don’t feel under any pressure to rush. Running at a pace where you can have a conversation out loud might feel slower than you were expecting a run to be but it will really help you progress. It’s counterintuitive but it works!
Good luck to you! You’ve got this! 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Well done on completing week 3 🥳 You should be proud of yourself and I hope you keep us up to date on how week 4 goes.I am about to start week 3 in an hour and it is interesting to hear talk about the progress you feel you've already made as I am actually looking forward to seeing how I manage with the 3 min runs today. I won't say I've found it easy but I am managing to complete the runs and that's all I am asking of myself at this time.
I am having some issues with ankle pain since starting week 2 but going for new running shoes today so I am hoping that helps.
Keep up the good running.
Does this look like a horror story?
You're a 38 year old man ... us men have running egos that mean when we hear 'Couch to 5k', it must mean 5k. It really doesn't - the program is time-based not distance.
Focus on achieving 3x 30mins in Week 9 at a nice slow easy pace and then the running world is your oyster ...
