1st One Done!!

So I've just completed my 1st run! Almost wanted to cry when the screen loaded it looked unachievable, but I did it(didnt smack my face up on the treadmill either so win!) it wasn't as bad as I thought. Looking forward to the next one.

Sara Milligan is my "couch", which I actually quite like I am hoping she gets more witty as the weeks go on.

Well done HanHan8 on getting started, unfortunately Sarah doesn't oblige, I chose her for that reason to 😁

That is fab!! As OldManRunning says Sarah doesn’t really find her funny side I swapped to Jo who really does seem to care about your progress. I find her more encouraging!

I think hearing her voice is quite calming enough to get you going, I also feel for me running on the treadmil helps as live got distractions

I did feel like she was selling out a bit on it, but no more than next person would! I may give jo ago in a few more weeks

Well done on starting. I had Sarah and she was great “well done flower”! I did doubt her when she said she was right there with me as I KNOW she was having a cup of tea on the sofa! Good luck

Yeah I thought that too! But shes not overly enthusiastic if you know what I mean. Will see how I get on tommorrow!

Hi there,

I chose Sarah Millican too, but it was more for the reason that she seemed the most down to earth and less intimidating than some of the others. (I doubt any of them are intimidating, it was just as a newbie five years ago, I needed someone I could relate to.) Anyway, I liked having her coach me but I wouldn't say she becomes witty, more relaxing and quietly encouraging.

Good luck, whoever you choose as your coach.

Fantastic! I think Sarah Millican would be my friend in real life. She’s brilliant!

You might have seen this already but we’ve got a guide to the programme here with lots of helpful hints and tips.  Well worth a read.  Most important is keeping it slow and steady at a pace where you can talk in full sentences without gasping.  Most of us go too fast! Recovery days between runs are absolutely essential too.

Really good luck for your next run. Keep posting and we’ll keep cheering! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Thanks! There is no fear of me going to fast!

You say that but you’d be surprised! I ran my whole couch to 5k too fast and only realised when I came to build my distance that I couldn’t keep running at my sort-of-comfortably-pushing-it pace (not technical run vocabulary!!) that’s faster than the lovely conversational pace that’s best for c25k. I was a slow learner of slow running! I really enjoy speedier runs now I’ve graduated but most of my runs are still at the speak out loud in sentences without gasping pace. That’s probably the only thing I’ll ever have in common with elite runners who also run like that as well!!

Yeah I know what you mean but I think because I am doing it on the treadmill it helping me to keep my pace slower, as I dont want to push myself end up falling off then end up on tic toc lol
