Welcome to the forum and the programme!Have yo started your runs yet ?

Take a look at the programme guide here .

healthunlocked.com/couchto5....

It's packe with really helpful information to guide you through the programme.

Not sure if anyone else is in Glossop, but personally I feel you are better doing this alone .

No one to let you down by not turning up, no one to temp you to run further or faster , but that's of course just my preference.

Enjoy the journey

Hi Becky, sorry to hear you are currently experiencing anxiety and depression. The runners on this forum come from far & wide and may not be the best place to find a running buddy. I’d recommend you reach out to your local community, maybe add a post to a local social media forum about a running group or buddy, I’m sure you’d get some response from others also wanting help & support from a buddy system. Good luck, let us know how you get on 😊

You have made a great decision to start running as a means to helping with your mental health. I also deal with anxiety and depression at times and for me running is up there on a par with taking my medication. It really gives me a boost of energy, and that invincible feeling of confidence. Best of luck on your journey.

Yes, I do agree with you... I always feel that running should be prescribed ( with other , ( for me, outdoor), exercise, on the NHS..... well done you x

Oh gosh. well first all welcome... and you have had some sound advice from  Instructor57 ... the running , certainly for many, many of us, is so beneficial for our mental as well as our physical well being.

Time to relax as we run and let the stress float away behind as you go... If you are afraid to run alone... there may be groups in your area where they are doing a beginners running group. They will, if they are a good group be aware of folk's needs as you run.

Also, maybe, and I don't know if you have visited this NHS forum.. take a peek here ,,,

You live in a great location... with some lovely routes.. ( and hilly), around you... and I really hope you are going to begin running.

These forums here are full of support... and you will certainly not feel alone if you join us. You take it slow and steady and post your runs, we will be right here!

Let us know :)

I don't know what stage you are at, but you do have a local parkrun in your town.

parkrun.org.uk/glossop/

The people there will know about local running clubs.

When I first started Couch25k three years ago, I ran in my own. Then I joined my local Parkrun, got totally addicted and was introduced to a local very friendly running club. So there's hopefully a few ways you can meet other people who run. Also, you may want to download the Nike Run Club app, if you don't manage to find a physical run buddy, there are loads of guided runs on the app, and Coach Bennett will talk you round them, so you won't be alone! There are runs on there for every distance you can think of. Good luck.☺️
