Well now 2 and 1/2 weeks on from the second twang of the calf muscle. Numerous visits to the physio, an appointment with Consultant Specialist followed by MRI which has been confirmed by their report it’s an extensive Grade 3 muscle tear. Have a further visit with the Consultant Specialist this coming Wednesday to discuss MRI Results and recovery plan. My Physio has started the process with some minor exercises to be undertaken three times a week but until he can meet and discuss my case he won’t commit to any heavy duty work outs yet. Thought it hurt when it went, and I wasn’t even out on a run which was the annoying part. It seems I am one of those rare cases where the tear is extensive but did not give the results in appearance that the Doctors were expecting. I don’t know if that is a good thing or bad thing? No signs of blood, no swelling and no bruising and I don’t know if that’s down to my fitness or what? It looks like it is going to be a longer recovery time of upto 16 weeks for a 3C tear. Happy in someway I know what the injury is but gutted in someways that this could be a long journey back.
I hope everyone is staying fit, getting out running and enjoying it. I will be back at some stage probably starting from scratch at Week 1 when I am given the all clear in the meantime it exercises and expenditure.

Oh no, that's rubbish, I'm so sorry Pap! I haven't been running for a few weeks after kicking the leg of the bed and hurting my foot. But at least I can blame the bed, how frustrating for you.
Good to get a clear diagnosis and know what is what...it feels like forever... I think my longest was twelve weeks...but... there are things to keep you happy and strong... upper body exercise for core strength and flexibility.. one side one leg exercise too.
It will go faster than you think but do try and get a routine of exercises to keep your body working until you head out again.
Like many of us who have started back at square one...you will find repeating Couch, fun, familiar and an old friend
Sorry to hear about the injury. You should definitely rest and follow exactly the physiotherapist's instructions for exercises. Be very careful about any activity you undertake, even walking short distances, as until healing is confirmed by an MRI or an ultrasound scan you could possibly make the injury worse. I had a calf muscle tear and had to use crutches for nearly a year. It was a very serious injury with blood descending inside the leg and reaching to the foot. I hope yours is nowhere near as serious.
This injury was the reason I took up running, at the suggestion of my physio.
