Hi fellow runners! I have a question for the tech experts amongst us. I have begun (8yrs using Audiofuel podcasts) using the Nike Run Club app on a Samsung S9. I use AfterShox Aeropex bone conduction headphones (bluetooth). When I used the C25K and Audiofuel podcasts on the samsung audio player I was able to stop and start the player using the controls on the headphones. Now with Nike Run Club app, bluetooth connects fine, and I can listen to the coaching. However, the headphone controls do not stop and start the NRC app. I have to access the screen of my phone and use the phone screen controls.
Has anyone experience of using NRC, and found a way to stop and start the app remotely, for instance using your headphone controls?

I have the same issue as you-my podcast will stop but not the NRC app. I don’t have a solution sadly, but it doesn’t usually affect my runs too much so I put up with it.
Thank you for your reply. Even if you have no solution, it is nice to know that it not just me. It is not normally a big issue. I carry my phone in a FlipBelt. In the past I prepared everything before walking out of the door, then set the podcast off after my warm up walk (habits learned from Laura!), using the headphone controls. Now I need to get the phone back out of the Flipbelt when I'm ready to run, start the app, then put the phone back in the belt. As you say, it isn't a big issue ! I'm just thinking it will be a bit awkward when running in the rain. Not a biggy though. I do like NRC a lot. I like the varried runs during the week ( speed intervals, long run, recovery run for example). I also like the coach (I'm in France, so he speaks French for me, but I imagine he says much the same in English )
It’s definitely not just you! The NRC app can be a bit of a pain to get working properly with other apps-I often have to start my music a few times because it keeps switching to the first alphabetical track on my Apple Music player. I had to turn off auto pause on the NRC app because when it paused and restarted it picked random tracks from the Apple Music player instead of staying with the BBC sounds app. It’s a good thing I like it enough to put up with its foibles!
Interesting that you’re listening in French. I’ve heard the coaches are different but the runs are the same. Like you, I absolutely love the variety. I’m using the half marathon plan at the moment for the second time and enjoying it just as much as the first time. There are so many runs to choose from if I want something equivalent but not the same as before.
It might be worth asking on out Bridge to 10k forum where lots of our Couch to 5k graduates are using the Nike app and chatting about the runs.
Hi Zev1963 , although I've never managed to bring myself to use NRC, I'm interested to know which coach you're listening to. I'm also in France and only loaded NRC to find out why so many people on here liked particular coaches, only to find out they're definitely not the same people on the French version! The runs, however, seem to be much the same now, though the French version of NRC was very limited when I first downloaded it maybe a year or so ago.
Je m'en doutais ! Pas de Coach Bennett, le chouchou des membres du forum. Même pas droit à Coach Blue, ni aux autres coachs anglophones dont j'ai zappé les noms. Au temps pour nous !! 🙄😉🤣
