I'm about to run the last run in week 5. I'm really looking forward to it. So much so I want to get out there and run it today even though I only ran run two of week five yesterday. My wife has been running for a long time now and she has convinced me that doing too much too soon can really set you back. She took on too much too quickly once and now she has a knee injury that keeps returning to remind her. The advice given on here and in the podcasts about pacing yourself is vital to staying the course. I'm not dreading the 20 minutes run in the morning because I know, if I pace it right, I'm going to succeed. I know that if I run fast at the beginning I'm going to really struggle at the end.
I found the first week the hardest. I was all self conscious about where my limbs were going and getting my footfall right. I was panicking and over thinking my breathing technique, by week three I had settled, I just relaxed into the runs and I became aware that pace was key. Go steady out there fellow c25k runners.

Great stuff... listen to your wife, she is right..listen to your own voices in your head.
Never, run on consecutive days..as it says in the essential guide, which you have , of course read,
"...The Rest Day from Running, is not negotiable, (however invincible you feel)., which means you should not, as a new runner, run on consecutive days, but does not have to be spent back on the couch again. When you run, unlike other exercises, you actually damage your muscles and the rest days are when they repair. "
If you take a look at some of our past Catch-up Corner posts, there is a lot of information there which you may find interesting. We have a lot of chat and shared experiences there... we had on on breathing a couple of weeks past !
Take it steady as you move on...and enjoy...Well done you!
Welcome to the forum and the program and well done with your progress 👍Please have a read of the program guide, it's full of really helpful information to guide you through the program.
Rest days (Or non running days as I prefer to call them) are crucial as a new runner to the point that we describe them as 'Non negotiable' in the guide .
Enjoy the last run of week 5!
It's one of the most satisfying runs in the program.
