Hi I've started the couch to 5k this week. Does the timer always start at 28 minutes? I don't think I'll be ever to do 5k in that time!

Welcome to the forum and the program!

Have you read the program guide?

healthunlocked.com/couchto5....

I'm afraid I don't really understand the question 'Does the timer always start at 28 minutes ' ?

And there is no requirement to run 5k at all .

The program will get you running for 30 minutes by week 9 (or possibly later ) it's about time not distance.

Hi thank you for replying. So before I press start the countdown starts at 28 minutes and 13 minutes. Im guessing it's a standard thing as you can't adjust it.

Ok, sorry, I see what you mean The 28 minutes is the total training time for that particular session, including warm up walk , cool down walk and all your walk and run intervals.

This will vary for different weeks of the program.

Example: Week 3 is shorter as in attached picture

Hi @Ras84, Instructor57 has answered your question and provided the link to the programme guide, which has loads of useful information.

All I wanted to add is that you really don't need to worry about the timer when doing your runs, because they're audio-guided, so your coach will tell you when to walk and when to run.

Enjoy C25K!

Don’t sweat about running 5k in under 30 minutes, some people never achieve the distance it’s the being able to run for 30 mins without stopping !

At the beginning I thought I would never achieve it or become a runner but jus t believe in the plan and any issues however trivial ask on this forum it’s very friendly.

Good luck 🙌🏻

To be fair I wouldn't mind trying to hit 5k I just might have to do it solo lol. But this is my first bit of exercise since pregnant so it definitely helps me to get back into fitness 🙂

Lots of our members build up slowly to running 5k when the time is right (after graduation, after consolidation where you stay at 30 minutes for a little while). You wouldn’t have to go solo!
