week 6 Run3

Have just done this, it was a battle to coerce self to go out. I felt daunted by 25 mins. In the event it was fine and I could keep going. A beautiful chilly day for it.

Strangely I’m not as elated as Week 5 run3, something to do with worrying about week7 long runs possibly.

I must just trust in the programme and stop overthinking.

Don't worry about week 7, they are just as long as the run that you have just ran, 25 minutes, 3/25 minute runs, congratulations on completing run 3 of week 6, you are now OFFICIALLY a RUNNER, well done, onwards and upwards to week 7, not long now until you graduate.

Thank you-I certainly need encouragement. I think I’ve been focusing on getting to 25mins and now I’ve got there it’s the realisation that I have to Do It Again three times that is daunting me! Daft.

I think week 5 run 3 is such a milestone, it’s hard to get such a burst of elation from any other run. Even if it was hard to get out there, you did it and that’s a big success. It’s really hard at the moment with the weather as it is and we all feel like that sometimes. I’ve had a massive stress about whether I could finish a 5k even though I hadn’t long done a half marathon. Logic doesn’t always beat gremlins but lacing up, switching brain off and running does!

You’re doing brilliantly and you’re ready for those week 7 runs. Just keep it steady, take it one step at a time and you’ll get there. Be seriously proud that you’ve ticked off another week and you’re one more week closer to graduation. You can do it!

JeremiahObadiah although I fully understand why you're worrying, as I did myself 😂, after I completed week 7 I wondered why I worried, the programme works. All these nice people can't be wrong 😊

One thing to bear in mind is although this programme has been designed to ease people into a healthy lifestyle and taking care of themselves it still calls for an effort to be made which you are doing admirably 😊

The idea of you co-ercing yourself out made me smile- what did that involve? I would try encouraging yourself out with positive words and thoughts. Week seven was absolutely my favourite week, the first time I actually believed that I had this in the bag. As you say trust in the programme, it has worked for so many people and (whispers) it might just work for you too!

Thank you all for your lovely encouragement. It’s good to know other people have had similar experiences and how people manage to persuade self to get on with running!

It was a talking to self in head. The same sort of stuff that I used to come out with many years ago when the children raised objections to going to swimming lessons etc .

I know if I get out there I can do this (and I almost enjoy it!), it’s the other voice in my head arguing back that I have to be stern with!! Makes me sound a bit doolally but we all have the two voices, just some have one louder than the other!!

I’ve always done gym classes, barre classes etc , I love exercise to music in a sort of choreographed way but it is done in bursts of activity with micro breaks, so doing a more continuous/straight line/keep going thing has been a different sort of brain/body challenge !

W5 R3 is special. It's when you realise you can trust the program and that you are a runner. Next big high is W9 R3. It won't be long coming.

If you don't think you can face all of Week 7, just do run 3 from Week 6 another three times. 🤣

Out of curiosity, is your nickname from "Jeremiah in the Dark Woods" or is it from the Four Yorkshiremen sketch?
