Tonight I've run 5K really pleased with myself something I never thought I would achieve. I started the day doing some 30 mins jogging on the spot at home and thought that would be it for the day but something was bugging me to get some music on and go out and rin and there you go the rest is history 5K hot in 35 mins
5K done: Tonight I've run 5K really pleased with... - Couch to 5K
5K done
A big congratulations to you Wayne131280 on running your first 5K run in a very good time of 35 minutes, well done, have you or are you thinking of running at a parkrun?
Well done, but weren’t you only on week four a few days ago? It’s best to try and stick to the programme so you don’t put yourself at risk of injury but increasing too quickly. Apologies if I’ve got that wrong!
Well you did 5K but..at Week 4...that may not have been the best idea..as MissUnderstanding says...the risk of injury at this stage is significant.
Maybe continue the programme and get to the podium injury free?
Well done on the 5k But I must reiterate the advice given already by MissUnderstanding and Oldfloss
To go and run 5k at week 4 is not a wise thing to do .
Stick to the program.
It takes a long time for your body to become used to the rigours of running and jumping ahead like this is very likely to end up with injury .
Overuse injuries can happen out of the blue and stop you in your tracks .
You could end up being taken out for days, weeks or even months .
As many have found to their cost .
It is simply not worth the risk .
And it's a BIG risk
Take care
For someone with good fitness itv really isn't that big a deal, however you've sold yourself short by not sticking with the programme. Quite aside from helping you to avoid injury (cycling and running are very different) it teaches you much more if you're prepared to commit. Hey ho 🤷♀️
While I get why you're proud of having run 5k Wayne131280 , please think of the longer term and stick to the C25K programme. Being able to run 5k, once, as a beginner runner is one thing. Being able to go out and run 5k comfortably, time and again, is another. Doing too much too soon is likely to result in injury and/or frustration, and then it'll be your entire running experience that's history.
