Well I only went and did it! Got all dressed up with my lights, couch25k tshirt fron my course and my race number.
When I entered the race I put estimated time at 45-50mins which meant I was at the back in the blue pen. Within about 2 mins of running I realised that was a mistake and got caught up with people walking and all Bunche d up at the narrow start. This meant I really struggled to find rhythm for the first 15 mins or so.
Overtaking people on piled up sand on the prom isn’t easy!
I developed a painful stitch around 25mins, but the encouragement of the crowd kept me going. The atmosphere was amazing, so many people turned out to cheer us on. Bournemouth pier came in to sight, the crowd were cheering and giving high fives, the PA had music blaring. Running the home stretch on the pier, I saw my friend and his little boy waving at me, which spurred me on even more.
Crossing the finish line was fantastic with the announcer calling all our names!
I did it in 36.15 which I am so chuffed with as I have a cough at the moment as well. I’m hooked! My first bit of running bling:

Congratulations 🎉 😊 you did really well, what a great time. I am running the SuperNova 5k in Scotland, the Kelpies will look amazing lit up, I am looking forward to it.
I am reallly pleased. I couldn’t sleep last night for the adrenaline. Spent early hours googling other 5k events. Seem to have cought the bug the rest of the family have now though, so a few nights off ( i ended up running 15k in a week and my poor legs were feeling it). Having a glass of wine to chill tonight!
