I really enjoyed it this time around and manged to finish it without a break, but wow, those last two minutes were hard! I really had to push myself and I was groaning and grunting! I ran for 35 minutes and thought I must have run 5k by now and thought I'd run faster than usual. However, when I checked runkeeper I was slower than usual and only ran 4.25km.
Bit disappointed, but you know what, my breathing was normal towards the end and I had a big smile on my face, I loved the run. Still bit hot out there, but not as bad as it has been.

Normal breathing and a smile on your face - sounds like you are doing really well! I've just run a mile for my last two runs, and they have been the best that I've done for ages. 5k isn't the be-all and end-all. Enjoying it and feeling good is pretty important too.
Thanks greenlegs, my hubby was just saying that! Don't know why I still feel bit down! Not sure about runkeeper, as it said i ran for 29 minutes and I know it was 35 with Laura. Anyway you're right, being too hard on myself.
I've been having problems with Runkeeper too, on one of my early weeks where I actually ran for a total of 16 minutes, when I checked Runkeeper at the end I found that I had run 28miles. Impressive eh! It seems to get bored with my plodding and does its own thing. I've just downloaded the Nike+ and it's having its first outing tonight :0)
Well done whatever the distance! I no longer trust Gramin, Endomondo etc. They are so weird distance wise! This morning it didn't even regsiter the distance. 38minutes = zero K. Untrue.
I can't do 5K in 30 minutes either (let alone 10K in an hour), I know it's cold comfort, but you are not alone! It's all about YOU and your endurance and, most of all, enjoyment!
Thanks Delia, I get competitive with myself!! Been researching and yes average time for 5k is 35 minutes. Also my age group ahem,(40 something) I'm doing well if I do it in 40 mins!
That's fantastic, good for you, you've got absolutely no reason to be disappointed, quite the opposite. Running for 30mins 3-4 times a week is the goal, you've just run for 35!
5k in 30 mins or less will come eventually, it did for me after several consolidation runs. But don't fret abkut timings and personal bests, just keep running regularly. 👊🏃👏
