Don’t phone me when I’m running!!!

I set off on a run around 7:30 this morning and I had told my husband that I was going after I’d dropped him off at work. I was using the ct5k+ podcast to guide me through a 30 minute run; literally 30 seconds into my run - my husband rang (I don’t like to ignore in case of emergency) so I answered (breathing more loudly than usual) so he asked ‘oh are you on your run now?’ 😡😤😖😬🙄😵‍💫 ‘Yes I am and you’ve just ruined my run 🤬🤬🤬!!!’ . He says sorry and hangs up. Now my podcast has gone off, I’m still running (has Strava paused?) 🤯🤯🤯 I ended up managing to get some music on (pressing millions of buttons on my EarPods) but realised quickly it was not my ct5k+ podcast (curse husband again). Anyway after all the faffing I managed to run 5k (guesswork on where I normally slow down) so I’m pleased with that. Now let me run in peace! 🏃🏽‍♀️

😂 When I first got my fitness watch for running purposes, I was outraged when it cut in and told me I had a What's App message and asked if I wanted to listen to it! All calls and messages get ignored when I'm running.

I was fuming - I’d only just told him I was going as soon as I got home - no excuse. It’s like he has this weird built in sensor to ring me at the most inconvenient times 🤣🤣

🤣.I've got one of those as well. Always at the most inconvenient time.

😆 I think he’s trained not to do it now as he’s been told off enough times 👍🏻

In my first attempt (of three) at C25K W1R2, my sister phoned during one of the walk intervals. Afterwards, it occurred to me that the walk time was taking a bit longer than usual. The app had paused!

So annoying and frustrating 😬 I’ve been looking at garmin watches and was hoping that because it links to Strava it will keep tracking but my phone had my podcast on so not sure what I can do about that other than hide my husbands phone 🤣

Yes, all Garmin watches will keep tracking independently of the phone.

Good to know 👍🏻

I hate it when that happens.

If you're aware that such things can happen, you can check.

The C25K app is horribly buggy, pause for a photo or a call (or sometimes even at random) it will just stop and you only realise when you're wondering why five minutes takes so long!I try and remember to put 'do not disturb' on my phone if I'm running. Even if it's a call I know I can ignore it disrupts the single mindedness I try and cultivate when I'm out. There are very few things that can't wait the 30 minutes or so it would take until I'm finished.

These days I seem to ignore more calls than I answer 😂 (though obviously not my husband's...but then again he's usually running with me)

It’s so annoying when it pauses or stops altogether isn’t it? 😤I’m going to make sure, if I’m not with my husband before I go on a run, to message him to say ‘DO NOT RING ME, IM RUNNING!’ 🤣

Maybe share your location with him while you run (you can easily do this on WhatsApp) and say 'don't ring me until I'm home'?

Really? I did not know that, that’s so useful - thanks 👍🏻

Well done for keeping going. Think we've all been there-a phone call we are scared to ignore in case it's important interfering with our podcasts! (In my case it was my elderly father calling to say that he would like a new tumble drier!-part annoying but mainly a huge relief that it was not bad news!)Mobiles need 2 ringtone-one for "I fancied a quick chat but it's not important " and one"answer me now!"

Wishing you a peaceful, uninterrupted next run!

This made me laugh (new tumble drier) well it was important to him 🤣Hey that’s a great idea about two different ringtones 😜 thank you ☺️

As long as there aren't two ringtones yet, I will keep setting my phone to "do not disturb"! I've learned through annoyances to make sure not to let double calls through (some people hang up and call again, so that call would go through! Rather rude, imo, as there's always a reason I set my phone on DND... ) and also not let calls from "favorites" through. My parents have interrupted my workouts with requests for apples (they hang their laundry 😉). So, I do this now with all calls... If there's an emergency, I am the wrong number to call anyways - should be whatever the emergency number is (i.e. 911, 112...)

I turn my ringer off! The last time I forgot my husband rang me ordering me back home immediately. I got there thinking there was an emergency only to find a bloke trying to deliver a load of timber

I double check now it’s OFF! 😁

that’s hilarious 🤣

I use an iPod rather than my phone.

Nobody is interrupting me😏

🤣😂 wish I could but I always think there could be an emergency - they’re well trained now - do not disturb! 😋

I went out on run1/1 and told my wife I'd be about 30 mins. I got back about 75 mins later absolutely soaked with sweat. I was so absorbed in the app the time hadn't registered. I didn't find out til the next day the app was flawed and paused everytime the screen went off. I thought it was an awful hard session to start with and never thought I'd finish. 😂😂 I'm now at 6/3. Needless to say I used only the podcasts after 😁 Oh and Sarah Milligan didn't say 1 joke
