Hi my running family, bet you thought you’d got rid of me eh???!!! Oh no, I’ll be popping up all the time!!!....so, Daddycav announces last night that he was having the day off again, same as last week, so, again, my Monday morning run was scuppered..not that I’m complaining, I like his random days off!! Anyway, I enjoyed the day, then this evening he had to go out and price a job..I was absolutely itching to do my post graduate run so as soon as his van pulled back into the drive, already changed into my running kit, I put on my trainers & off I went...it went well..it was a different run completely because I ALWAYS run on a morning...I’ll let you into a secret too...I’ve over come the β€˜Sister Gremlin’....the one that has been telling me all the time, including tonight, not to run on an evening in case my β€˜Sister’ (& I use that term extremely lightly) who lives 10 doors away & I haven’t spoken to for 7 years, sees me...well, guess what? She was sat in her car & I walked past on my warm up walk..then when I’d been running for about 10 minutes she drove passed me...then after 20 mins while I was on the home straight she drove passed me again but do you know what? I wasn’t flippin bothered...I was out there doing my thing...& proud to be doing my thing..so my post graduation run went well....really well...I have no more gremlins on my shoulder now, none...they’ve moved on...& so have I πŸ˜‰

I was terrified of my local vicar seeing me run but once he had (and had to pull his car over to allow me to pass on the narrow road too!) I was totally fine, even run past his house without worrying about it! So odd, the things we worry about!!

If the local Padre here ever saw me running he probably went the opposite way to console potential victims LOL :)

Wow, that is one big Bu88er of a gremlin! And a very personal one. Just shows you what running's done for you.... Given you the confidence to not give a toss, you love it so much that you don't care anymore....and you won't let it get in the way.....you can go out there with 2 fingers to the world (or 10 doors down...) because you want to. Bl**dy brilliant!!! (sorry I swear a lot... I, er.... can't think of an excuse for that!!). Proud of you, fellow runner :) :) :)

Lol..thank you FPF...I said this running malarkey had changed my life...& it has!!! I’m absolutely not bothered what anyone thinks...none of us should x

quirkybee profile image
quirkybeeGraduateβ€’ in reply toMummycav

Same here to Bev. I used to worry and sometimes still do, in general, not about running. But who gives a toss eh, do things for us I say ,because nobody else will. Good for you doing that, no doubt your sister may have been a tad envious. At least you were doing the running and the exercise and not driving around in the car. Wey hey lovely xx 😊

MummycavAdministratorGraduateβ€’ in reply toquirkybee

You’re right Beth...she’s always been a tad jealous of my life...hers has always been tumultuous...mine calm & happy...we really shouldn’t worry about what other people think, only the ones who’s opinions matter to us x

Well, if I had a sister like you, even though we've not met yet, I'd be very proud of you and would be cheering you on when you ran. 😊 Unfortunately, I'm an only child x

Gremlins totally overthrown....when you're doing your thing you're doing it and nothing beats that feeling...

Sisters are doing it for themselves, (as were you) sung by the great Aretha and Annie L.

There are two ladies who would beat the crap out of any gremlins....

Well done mummycav

Good for you for getting over that gremlin. Life is too short to worry about people seeing you run.

I have one of those sisters ;) She disowned me about 18 years ago.

But anytime she does try and upset my serenity I just deal with it like she is a ghost - a bloody nusiance but nothing of substance or importance.

Some people think because they are related by blood to someone they can be as Brutal as they wish - eventually though you just have to let go of toxic people. Used to really depressing me but after a few years I realised it was a happier situation for me anyway. Sad but such is life - and "family" - sometimes.

That’s so true...It’s strange when somebody you used to know becomes a stranger...& life’s too short to have people in your life that bring nothing but trouble & squeeze every ounce of goodness out of you for their benefit...& also kick you when you’re down...I’ve got my own lovely family & a MASSIVE family on here for which I am truly grateful ❀️

Love it! You can't choose blood relatives but you can choose running relatives ;0) (and partners and kiddies of course!), well done for kicking that one into the long grass. I'm looking forward to the MummyCav movie, I reckon there will be loads of volunteers to be extras!!
