So haven’t posted for a while…thanks to the posting gremlins (apparently they are a thing!)
I graduated (for the 2nd time) back in January, and have been gradually increasing my times and distances. Occasionally, though, it’s fun to ring the changes and pop in some short runs for fun!
So here’s some musings on a short run I did on Thursday…
I fancied a short circular run on the flat, so I went for my old C25k starter route, it’s a mile up along the river, over a bridge and back down the other side. So with 0.5k warm up/cool down walks, it would be about 2km of running…perfect! I chose a Nike Run Club (NRC) 2k guided run and some tunes…and off I went.
Coach Shalane told me that this was an “easy” run…this means *effort*, and is actually what we should all be using on here to get to that magic 30 minute non stop run. So an “easy” pace is that good old conversational pace, about a 4 /10 in effort. That’s different to speed…it took me 21 minutes, some of you will be faster, some will be slower…but it should be at what is our own individual easy pace.
So I plodded along with my tunes, and I had time to smile at people on my way, and was able to sing out loud when there was no one around! 😂
In short, I had fun.
C25k is hard work, but you’ll get there in the end…at your own pace. I literally had to count down the seconds to get me through those first runs in W1R1!
Happy running 🏃🏻♀️🐌🌻💙
