Today’s run was easily one of my favourite runs yet! It was a beautiful day and I had the day off work so I decided instead of running my usual road route, I’d make the effort to head to the nearby canal/river and run there instead. It was a good decision!
The first part of the run is on a nice canal path so it’s lovely and flat and very pleasant to run on. Eventually the canal meets the river. The path along the river is just a dirt path so you have to watch your footing a little bit more but it’s still far nicer than the road. More importantly, when I got to the river the scenery was absolutely beautiful. The sun was shining and I was surrounded by trees and fields. Across the river was a big field of horses and I saw a heron chilling out by the water which was pretty cool! I wish I could have stopped to take a photo but I was on a roll so! 😂 I was greeted by the occasional dog walker and even exchanged smiles with a lady kayaking along the river
I was enjoying myself so much that I decided today was the day I’d run a little bit further. I usually aim for 5K so I thought why not go for 6K? I was sure I could do it and I had a nice pace going on so I went for it. I managed to do it in just under 40 minutes which I was pretty pleased with. But in fairness the numbers really weren’t the takeaway from this run. It was just a lovely experience. It’s runs like this that make me so glad that I started C25K ☺️
Happy running! 😁
