Early 2021 in the dark days of lockdown I embarked on C25K at the age of 62. At the time I struggled to run for 60 seconds without stopping and gasping for breath. Anyway, I stuck with it and did it!
I’ve kept it up and very slowly built up my distance (but not my speed). On Saturday I completed the Redditch Half Marathon in 2hrs 30 mins, raising £411 for cancer research in the process. I am so proud and happy at what I achieved and still can’t believe it.
If I can do it then anyone can! Just stick to the plan and keep going. It’s worth it. Today I’m celebrating my 64th birthday.

Wow David that’s amazing, well done! How did you build up to your HM after ct5k? I love reading success stories - you all inspire me on a tough run so thank you.
Thanks - my intention was to build steadily up to 10k but just sat around 6k for a while. Then signed up for the HM to give myself a target - then just did it. 8k, 10k, etc. the real point is that almost anyone can do it. Just keep going Dendev, before you know it you will reach your goal. And the feeling is so great - it will change your life! Good luck!
Happy birthday David and welcome back!!!Well done to you on that HM and on raising that money for such a great cause... It is so, so good to see so many folk here of a certain age.
We more seasoned runners can show the world a thing or two can't we. Although I am a LOT older than you
Now you are back, why not stick around and share your runs with some of us here on C25K.
The new Catch-Up Corner post goes up on Friday... why not pop in and sit a while!
Not sure if I hit the 'Report' button by mistake. Nothing to report! Just congratulations...I'm in a similar age bracket and have never progressed beyond W1, which I do over & over again. Am seriously considering trying W2 next week.
