Just completed W8 R1 and I've caught a cold.

Is it just a case of grin and bear it and breath through my mouth or take some time off. I appreciate that physical conditioning is retained for a couple of weeks but I'm more concerned about losing the momentum that I've achieved.

As you have said, you won't loose too much fitness in a couple of weeks .As far as the cold is concerned I personally don't run with a cold as I get bad sinus headaches and even without them I just don't enjoy running with a cold but I know of many who will !

If it's not on your chest and affecting your breathing then you may be ok

You are better off breathing through your mouth as it permits maximum air flow, but if your cold is affecting your breathing then probably best to rest and recover. If you run with a cold it may well take longer to recover fully than if you rest.

With respect & apologies to you, SnafuDad for side-swiping your post.. but…

YAYYYYYY!!! Tim! 🤗 Weird, but yesterday I looked for any post from you, just in the hope that it meant you ‘felt up to it’ and therefore, doing ‘ok’..🤔

Non-denominational/Non-religious ‘prayers’ answered!!! 😉🙏 ..and SO hoping - like so so many others on here - that today is a GOOD day for you.. 😎❤️

That is very kind of you.

I am doing well and have had to resort to an electric bike to get my exercise, which is slowly rebuilding my leg strength. Some days are better than others, but I have just spent four days in Cornwall, being fairly active.

I will be posting something soon.

Well if you feel OK go for it. I have run with a cold and found it the only part of the day when my nose wasn't blocked. 🤧🤧🤧 I think the general rule is if it's above the neck symptoms you'll be fine. And seeing that it's taken a while to reach this point I'd say keep the momentum going if you feel up to it😊

Thanks to everyone for their advice. I've taken an extra days rest today but plan on trying WK8 R2 tomorrow and will let you know how it goes.

I've just home from a 25 minute run. Got back from a 2 week holiday Saturday eve. The day I left for holiday I should have started week 9 run 1. I walked 5 k yesterday and decided to go for it this morning. It was hard, but I managed (at tortoise pace) .

It really is a case of mind over matter. So don't worry if you need to take time off to rest!

Happy Running 🎽
