Hi 👋

I am new here, I have tried to do this before and I’ve stopped because of family reasons. I am quite fit whilst walking, but jogging kills me. I am on blood pressure tablets and want to get rid with getting my health better

Welcome back:) Okay you had a dress rehearsal, now tie to get the show on the road, ( excuse the pun), and this time...you will do it!Follow that link, read the advice... and do please stay with us. Take it slow abd steady and post your runs. It does help to keep you on track.

Looking forward to your posts!

As the saying goes...

"It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop".

Welcome.

If jogging "kills" you, then you are going too fast.

Slowing down to the recommended easy conversational pace makes it more achievable and for most, more enjoyable.

Counterintuitively, it is an easy conversational pace running that builds your stamina and endurance, not fast running.

Say this sentence out loud to yourself "Am I going slow enough to enable me to speak this sentence in one out breath?" If you cannot, you are going too fast.

Oh, and by the way, we don't use the f word on this forum.

Hi there, how about focusing on the positive, you’ve come back 😀. I felt the same as you that jogging wasn’t my thing but after reading peoples post I slowed my pace to almost a walk to everyone else but it worked for my and now I’m on week 8!! I also listen to podcasts and music, depending on my mood, which has helped me keep going!! Keep up your good work x

Hi shadylady, I can see you have had lots of good advice on your running I would just like to add something about your blood pressure (one of the reasons I started ) I don't know how high yours is but mine was "pre hypertension" and I didn't really want to go down the doctors route so I started running anyway to cut s long story short in the last couple of months I came across an article about beetroot juice (like marmite apparently love it or hate it), I personally love the taste and can tell you that a couple of glasses a day have lowered my blood pressure to ALMOST normal so if you like it add it to your daily routine and see what happens, All the best with your quest

👍🙂

Good luck ShadyLady. Stick with the programme. Slow, slow slow. Add lots of extra weeks if you need to. It works, promise.
