Starting again inspiration

So I did couch to 5k just over a year ago, was comfortably running 3 x 5k a week, then I suffered a knee injury - which I had an X-ray and physio - it is mainly arthritis. I still have some knee pain but I want to start running again - physio says it will strengthen the muscles and ligaments around my join to says I’m ok to run. First step is getting back on here and getting some motivation and encouragement from all the stories and posts. So here’s to all those that started again ….

Sorry to hear that you’re been out of action but sounds like you’ve approached this in absolutely the right way. Sounds like you have a good physio too.

We’ll be here cheering you on and waiting to hear your progress. Just take it easy while you get up and running again (literally 🙂). You know you can do it.

There’s quite a few people doing c25k again (including me - I ran the Great North Run in 2006 and then gave up until this year. It’s great to be back out there).

Welcome back to you... do check out the pinned post just to refresh your memory!

healthunlocked.com/couchto5....

As Vespina says, many of us have repeated the programme in its entirety or in part.

Just take it every steadily and relax into it... you know what is coming, you know that you can do it.

Make sure you do keep up with some strength and stamina work too on some of those rest days! You have the go ahead and there is a lot of sound advice out there too.

E,g.

There are a fair few folk with arthritis, running currently, and finding it helps enormously!

Looking forward to your posts!

Great that you're re-starting. I'm glad your physio recommended running - there are a lot of myths out there about not running with knee arthritis. I also have knee arthritis and running helped so much! I'm also re-starting cto5k after covid and lack of motivation for a while, meaning that my running was sliding downhill, despite having built back up to over 5k when covid hit.I'm currently at the red of week 4. Look forward to seeing your posts!

I’m so cross with myself that I didn’t keep it up - at least I know I can graduate and feel more positive this time than the first time that I can do it - well done to you too for restarting
