Week 5 Run 3

Yay, free from isolation. Wasn't stuck for long but couldn't wait to get out. A nice brisk 1km walk and as soon as I hit my jogging area I was already on autopilot getting the next run ready to play.

Took this run much more steady, slowest pace so far but was tough at times. I think my mind was associating different points in the route with previous runs where I'd be hitting a walking interval. At about 16/17 mins had to push to keep going (I was not conversational then but honestly I didn't care, just wanted to keep going without messing with pace or overthinking things) but at 20mins and round the final bend managed an extra minute to make it to the entrance/exit gate. Yippee!

Unlike last 2 runs, the cool down walk felt great this time. Brisk and smooth. Maybe it was the bonus stretching and rest with time off or just I was buzzing at completing a solid block of running.

Thank you. This was the one I had most looked forward to doing since I saw the programme in January. The posts on here help to push away a lot of doubts and concerns so can try to get out without too much extra baggage. I'd probably have just gone to a walk as soon as it got hard before.

Well done, but you really are making life tough for yourself by not sticking to an easy conversational pace and you will not be maximising your aerobic development.

Slowing down to the recommended easy conversational pace makes it more achievable and for most, more enjoyable.

Congratulations. That’s a real milestone. Glad it was a good one. Back to intervals for the next one so you’ll get those walking breaks back.
