Just loaded the app. I have tried this before I didn't get passed the first week. I struggle to breathe properly when I jog.
Thought I would give it another try with a different app.

Welcome to the forum and the program.
Well done on deciding to give it another go !
Have a read of the program guide.
It's full of helpful information to steer you through the program.
healthunlocked.com/couchto5....
If you are struggling to breathe then the chances are that you are trying to go too fast ....
Slow it down to a pace where you could speak full sentences without gasping for breath
Anything more is simply too fast .
Enjoy the journey
Hi and welcome. Instructor57 has covered it well. Really worth reading through the guides as a lot of useful information there.
I found breathing to be difficult especially in week 1 simply because it was new to my system and I was going too quick even though it seemed slow. It does take a bit getting used to and in middle of programme I'm still working on reducing speed. Something I had not considered at all until getting advice in the community.... You can jog slower than you walk.
If you don't feel you're quite ready for Couch to 5K, maybe do three walks in the coming week? Make them as brisk as you can bear, and try to do about 20-30 minutes for each of them.
But when you come to do the runs in C25K, you're best doing them as a slow jog: minimal effort. I got this bit wrong when I was starting out. It's a very common mistake to think you have to push yourself during the run sections. The opposite is true: the walks should be fast and the runs slow.
Well done for trying again. That shows real commitment. Lots of us are coming back for our second (or more) time, so you’re in good company.
The key to making it comfortable and enjoyable is maintaining the right pace for you which is probably slower than you think. You should be able to speak a full sentence. Doesn’t matter what speed that is - that’s where you build endurance and stamina and it gives your ligaments and tendons time to get stronger too. (I need to keep telling myself this too, so I understand the pressure to be going faster).
The programme is really good. We’ll be here cheering you on.
Welcome to the forum.
If you keep posting here we will keep you running and cheer you over the finish line.
Do read the guide. A bit of knowledge can go a long way.
Enjoy your journey.
Welcome ! You have had some great advice and it is good to have you here with us. Slow and steady is my mantra, and it may be helpful for you to begin with.
Keep posting your runs too for great support here.
Also, you have arrived at just the right time as the Catch -Up Corner post coming up today is all about... guess what... breathing!Maybe pop in and take a peek later
I agree with others that have posted... I had the same struggles at the beginning. My first post here was about breathing too.
Slowing it down really helped and I followed a slow running programme for a while.
These guys are good...it is free 5 day challenge which is enough to get a gist of principles

Stick with it, slow and steady wins every time. Good luck 😁
Hi Hidden When you say to "struggle to breathe properly when I jog" is that because the jog is too fast or do you have a limiting health condition?
How does your brisk walk feel?
Do you do much walking normally, during the rest of the week?
