I’ve always avoided running in the rain but yesterday I thought I would give it a go and I have to say I hardly noticed it once I got started. There were a couple of downsides: firstly, my glasses soon became covered in raindrops so I’ll wear contacts next time, or a cap with a good brim, and I did get quite a soaking from passing cars spraying water up from the gutters, but apart from that, and having very soggy trainers when I got back, it wasn’t bad at all and from now on, I won’t let the rain keep me in. I was also able to follow the good advice from fellow runners on this site about how to clean muddy, wet trainers, so thank you to all those who gave me those tips. So if you’re hesitant about running in the rain, perhaps give it a try, you might be pleasantly surprised!

Running in the rain
Running in the rain makes me feel like a hero and a real runner! The other nice thing is other runners also out in the rain give you that little nod of solidarity. Very satisfying!

A brilliant read Oldfloss, thank you so much! 😊 You have a real talent for writing. Thank you for telling me about the Trail Head cap too, I’ll definitely treat myself to one of those!
Personally I really enjoy running in the rain. I also have a trail head cap & wear my lenses. An added bonus is there's usually fewer people out.
I’ve looked at the Trail Heads caps but there are quite a few to choose from, including one with drop down ear flaps and another with UV protection. I would be really pleased to have your recommendation! Thank you.
I’ve just looked on Amazon, it’s called race day performance running hat, light weight &quick dry. It’s great for both wet &sunny days &costs £18.50I’m really happy with mine, it’s sounds expensive but I’ve had mine ages &it definitely does the job 🏃♀️
