Possible shin injury? I actually did this playing football but I started to get shin pain whilst doing couch to 5k during the first lockdowns. I stopped running but every time I did short jogs I'd often feel pain in both my shins. It's been a long time (1year+) since that though so I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong place.
Yesterday I was just having a kick about with my niece and perhaps wearing the wrong footwear (firm ground boots whilst the ground had been very wet). I went to strike the ball and my not striking foot kind of got a little stuck in the ground and I had a sharp pain. It wasn't too bad and I continued to jog around but just being a bit more careful and not striking the ball so hard.
I forgot about it but as the evening came I started to get a little discomfort in the area. I spent the night reading stuff on Google and now I'm all depressed and feeling like I'm out of action for 3-6months. The pain isn't extreme or anything and that I continued walking on it for the rest of the day makes me hopeful it's not as serious as google has me fearing it would be. I just hope someone may have some input?

Shin splints are very common for new runners and are best overcome by appropriate leg strengthening exercises, as linked to in this guide to the plan, which is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, dealing with injury, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Hi nfrog , shin splints are indeed common for new runners, but you say you hurt yourself during a football kickabout. Dr Google has clearly done nothing to reassure you, and I suspect that unqualified suggestions from an internet forum would only exacerbate your concern. I can only recommend that you get advice from a medical or health professional. Hope you feel better soon.
Getting an appointment in my small town is atrocious. The pain has subsided about 60% now that it's been 48hours. I'm hoping this means it's not as serious as i first thought.
