Advice please

I did W8R2 this morning and failed miserably!! I hadn’t run for a week due to travelling back from Cambridgeshire, Storm Eunice and then had an upset tummy for 2 days at the weekend. I only managed 20 minutes of a very slow jog, did finish with a further 5 minutes after walking for 10 minutes up the hill. If I’m honest I found W8R1 hard going last week and have been quite tired for a couple of weeks. I’m tempted to go back to week 7 and keep repeating until I feel really comfortable at 25 minutes. I’m not in any rush to finish as I love running to the pod casts.

What do you think? I do prefer the continuous runs and quite prepared to build back up slowly if needed.

Cheers

Oh dear, but I think maybe you're just a bit under the weather? Especially after your weekend tummy upset.I would just plough on and repeat this run when you feel a bit better.

Good luck. 🤗

I'd agree with Roxdog Probably just not 100%

Just give it a day or 2 and go again 🤞

I feel you were still not well... The thing is the runs wait and they wait for you to be back up to par:) The last post on Catch up Corner, dealt with this...

healthunlocked.com/couchto5......

so, rest up, hydrate well get back to eating your normal healthy meals and then a little jogette to test the water... you will be back on track:)You are doing so well, so you deserve to enjoy it:)

Oh it just sounds like you've really been under the weather. Not surprising you struggled.

I agree with everyone else. You've been doing so well - just give it another couple of days or so. Rest up, keep hydrated, get your appetite back properly and go again with this run.

I'm sure you will smash it

Take care Phdgranny and you will smash it when you are back to feeling 100%.

As others have said, it sounds like you weren't back to 100% yet. If you want to get out and keep active, do a few walks instead.

I agree that you weren't quite well so don't feel you failed or be miserable. It is amazing how you can stop running for a couple of weeks, then take it up again with no ill effects (or hardly any). However, people who know me, will know I have alway liked repeating runs or weeks. It seems to give me confidence as I know I can do it!! So, give it a few more days to rest, hydrate and recuperate fully. If you are in no hurry to finish C25K repeat week 7, then if that felt good continue, if not, repeat!!! 🚶‍♀️🏃‍♀️

You may not have managed it on this attempt but good effort! "Failed miserably "?? ....I don't think so. Failed miserably to me would mean you didnt move from the couch ! Your post shows you still have motivation but are momentarily out of sorts . Rest up, less pressure on yourself and go again! You will get there ! Slowly slowly, catchy monkey!🤣😊

I think you have answered your own questions in your original post. You clearly weren't back up to full health after your tummy upset. Hopefully after rest, hydration and nutrition you will be back on it. So near to graduation. Take it nice and steady 👍
