Having recently returned to C25K after an 8 month total lapse in my running. I decided I wanted to start at the beginning again to ensure I took it steady, didn’t risk injury and hopefully was mentally prepared too.
Week one was fairly hard but I took some comfort realising that the muscle memory is still there in the legs.
Week two - well of course I can do this, I did it just last week 🙂
Week three - first run today and it’s a step up with 3 min run intervals. Started off OK with warm up walk and 90 secs run but the first 3 min interval I really struggled. I felt so deflated and annoyed with myself but I did just manage it. The next 90 secs run was fine and the final 3 mins also. 🤷♀️ As I walked back towards home it dawned on me - the toxic 10! I had forgotten all about this! This is why that first longer interval felt so tough. How I could forget toxic 10 I do not know (must have blocked from my memory a bit like women subconsciously do after pain of giving birth!), it’s something I struggled with first time around on this running journey but I know it can and will be beaten.
A longer warm up walk (5 mins is really not enough I find) and a few more stretches, plus plenty of water the day before. It may take a while but I learnt to eradicate it before and with perseverance, I will do so again.
Onwards to the next one 🏃♀️🦥
