Running while away for the weekend

I’m away for the weekend and so far I haven’t yet managed to run while away. So I’m trying to gather myself to go out and run in unfamiliar places when I’m still a new (returning to) runner! Reading postings before I go is helping, let’s see how I do 😄

Running in new places is one of the greatest joys of running for me.

Have fun.

Thank you for always being so encouraging, it helps a lot. I’m really happy to have done it and pleased with myself. I normally work away a lot so as we pull out of ‘covid times’ I do need to be confident with running in new places! Today was step one of that. Done ✅

Good luck. Have fun! One of my favourite runs last summer was through Rocky Valley in Cornwall with my son. Up on the cliffs. So exciting. Hope you enjoy it!

I did it and that’s the main thing! I’m returning to running after 30+ years of not doing any and finding it tough. It was lovely being on the canal path, but as it was by King’s Cross it was packed with very fit, much younger runners!

We went away last year and I chose the hotel because it was right next to the Parkrun in Berlin. To say it was basic would be flattering. The kids were unimpressed. In the morning I got up for the Parkrun but wimped out and just ran through the park on my own. Every time I saw a Parkrunner I'd run off and hide. Despite this I had a wonderful time on my own, at my own pace, exploring a beautiful place and probably seeing more than if I'd stuck to the course. Just go for it!

I'd always take my kit and shoes away with me nowadays. (And some form of a map.)

I find plotaroute.com helpful sometimes.

Thanks, I have a look at that app too.

I think, over time you are going to enjoy running in different places and I’ll look forward to reading about them

I certainly hope so, it's all about getting into good habits and keeping to them!
