Hi, at 69 I’m a bit late to start running. Had a VT episode 6 years ago and had 3 stents fitted. I cycle in the better weather. But found fitness dropped off during the winter. So started the C25K, just using a treadmill at the moment until I get fit enough to go outside and not collapse after 5 minutes. Up to week 8, day 1 and so far so good.

Late starter

That’s brilliant. I’m 62 and a non runner and wondered if I’d left it too late. I’m so happy I tried it. Starting week 9 this week - on treadmill like you. The c25k programme is amazing, isn’t it?
Good luck

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.
there are plenty of us in their sixties on this forum.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Enjoy your journey.

Never too old Bluestreek! And well done on your progress, you seem to be doing brilliantly. Best of luck - not long until you graduate 😊.

Welcome to the forum and the program and well done with your progress!I started at 63 having never run before in my life .
Your almost at graduation now so well done !
Keep at it and see you at the finish line (Or is it the Starting post) !
I'm 64 and started last October. I have a total hip replacement and am also running on a cross trainer so you're in good company. I thought I was too old too but I've graduated C25k and am now running for 45+ mins regularly 3 times a week. So you're never too old to get the bug. Good luck for the last few runs to graduation

My wife has had 2 knee replacements and a hip replacement and was told no running.
yes me too so I only run on a cross trainer where you don't lift your feet from the 'pedals'. My physio said this is fine as there is no pounding on the implant. Sadly it means I don't get the advantage of running through nice countryside but I am running. My knees are ok so it may be the knees rather than the hip for your wife. Obviously she should do what her doctors tell her
