After Christmas I was taken into hospital with gall stones that had escaped and blocked some of my tubes. I will need an operation in the future but need to lose weight . I’m determined to have a healthier future so any hints, tips and support would be great x

You'll soon get over the feeling people are looking at you. Everyone looks at everyone, that's life. And they just think 'There's someone running'. Then they remember they keep meaning to do something similar but can't be bothered.

Welcome on board and everyone is so supportive and helpful on the forum and will be with you all the way.

I go to SlimmingWorld and had lost 1 stone before C25K but have since lost another 1 1/2 stone so the combination of the diet and running has massively helped.

Good luck and enjoy it! 😊

You'll do great! Running will get you fitter, no doubt, and others can advise on the weight loss. Just wanted to express sympathy on the gallstones as my partner just went through it (so much pain!) and had has now had the op. We are both trying to be fitter and healthier now!

Ouch! My sister's had those - very painful. I always found Slimming World to be very good - I think doing it in a group helps - everyone is in the same boat. Stick with this app though - I did my first one today / wasn't that easy but I loved it. Once you start you won't look back. Go for it! X

Hi I had my gall bladder taken out as an emergency..so painful. Anyway I have gone on to lose 3 stone ..its taken me a coupe of years ..I do nothing very fast! But to shift the last stone or two I decided to try C25K and you are talking about someone here who in her 50s hadn't run since a toddler. But Im in week 3 now and I absolutely love it, I feel so much healthier too. Good Luck and the support on here is simply amazing

Awww I’m sorry to hear about your gall bladder and congrats on the run . What an inspiration .

Check out the faqs pinned to the right, just so you know what you’re in for. The main thing at this stage is to take it nice and slow in fact to quote Meryl Streep in the Devil Wears Prada ‘ you know how your glacial pace thrills me’.

If you think you’re going slow, go even slower, as this will help you through the intervals. Oh and footwear - your feet are the foundation to your running, the wrong shoes can do you a lot of trouble. If you can we’d all highly recommend getting a gait analysis done, so you get the right shoes at the outset.

Welcome to the nicest, friendliest, best running club in the world - do let us know how you get on.

Thank you so much .i have just completed day one and you are so right about the pace my run bit was more of a slow jog but it’s the first step :)

Seriously slow running is cool running, once you’ve graduated and Start doing runnery things like reading runner blogs, all of them say that slow running is the thing that enables endurance and stamina and bizarrely speed too.
