C25k revisited…W1r1

Well…here I am…with all sorts going on in my life but not as much running going on as I’d like…so, I only ran once last week, that’s absolutely terrible for me…At the moment, for some reason, the thought of running for more than 10 minutes feels impossible & not something I really want to do….I don’t know what’s making me feel like this, I just feel like I can’t keep going…I’ve got 3 children who are transitioning between high school/6th form/college/jobs & settling into high school, at last, but all of this is on top of me starting my own business after being a ‘stay at home Mum’ for 18 years…there’s been a shift at home and a lot of me doesn’t like it but the other bit of me knows that things change all the time & we just have to adjust to it with a smile & big girl pants (she says with water coming out of her eyes!!) so…I’ve decided to revisit C25k so that I can plump up my comfort pillow and build my running back up again & actually look forward to it again rather than dread run day & make up some feeble excuse like I have been doing over the last few weeks…so you might hear a bit more from me as I keep popping in for some of that inspiration that oozes from you lovely lot…& report on my runs so you all know I’m still cracking on…so W1r1 seemed like an absolutely breeze…I remember the first time round when my lungs were trying to escape from my chest, that was over 4 years ago now so obvs I’m a lot fitter than I was then but my mojo isn’t as keen as it was back then!!! So here’s to r2…and all the runs to follow… 🏃🏼‍♀️

Thank you Roxdog …I am still around as I have my admin roll so although I’m quiet I still keep my eye on what’s going on..but I’m going to be posting more now as I start my C25k journey again.Yes, it’s full on with our 3 at the moment, I’d give anything for them all to be small again but I have to adjust to them growing up…reluctantly x

We'll be cheering you all the way, lass.

It is a great idea to take the pressure off and just rebuild the stamina and the mental belief.

Have fun.

That’s my plan IannodaTruffe …the mental belief is the hardest part…but…defeat is not in my vocabulary…x

Phew, it’s full on at the minute isn’t it Mummycav but huge well done to you and good luck with the business and the C25K part 2! You’ve got this and you know we’re all right there cheering you on! And offering a virtual tissue when it’s needed too!

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply toOldgirlruns

It is Oldgirlruns …my business has taken off straight away and I’m fully booked up already…I’m looking forward to feeling the peace of knowing I can do C25k again & get myself back to where I need to be…I’ll def need some tissues, I’m a softy where my children are concerned! xxx

Huge admiration for you stepping back and realising you need to make a change to get back to where you want to be. Life has a habit of just getting in the way sometimes and you've thrown it a curve ball by standing up with a solution. I'm still (slowly) working my way back through c25k and I've really enjoyed repeating it. You know you can do it so go out and have some fun 🏃‍♀️

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply toMum22boys

Thank you Mum22boys …it got to the stage where I was missing the ‘got to get out there’ feeling that I used to enjoy so much…running with a smile on my face instead of wondering how long I had left before I could stop!! I thought I’d do a bit of jeffing but I wasn’t even feeling that either…so hopefully, doing C25k again will relight my running fire 🔥 xxx

Frenc profile image

What a star you are - Pom poms from me all the way too! Who have you chosen as your coach? Alas the brill Michael is no more. I think I’d choose Denise Lewis if I were to do it again. Have fun and enjoy! And that life stuff will smooth itself out, just you wait and see 😊😊😊.

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply toFrenc

Oh thank you so much Frenc …I’m in a forum full of stars…so much support from everyone will def see me through to the end…i know that every so many years things change with children, it’s all part of them growing up…part of me looks forward to it and part of me just wants to freeze time with them all…I know that’s not possible so I have to embrace what’s to come…thank you so much xxxI’ve chosen the lovely Laura this time, I’ll miss being a smoothie!!

JetsNanna profile image

Bless you. It sounds like you’ve got a lot on your plate at the moment so I guess it’s hardly surprising that something has to take a backseat. After all, we all only have so many hours in a day and only so much that we can get enthused about. Starting over seems like a fab way of reminding you that running is still ‘there for you’ when you’ve got the time and emotional capacity to fully embrace it again. Bravo for coming up with a way to ease yourself back into a habit that you already know will make you feel great 😊

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply toJetsNanna

Thank you JetsNanna , I thought & thought about what to do, I’ve tried different plans on Garmin, Nike Run Club etc but nothing has worked so I knew I just had to go back to basics, where it all started…get the foundations back & start the build again….all the support from my running family will carry me through I just know it xx

I think a lot of us have struggled from time to time, various reasons, but this is a great place to regroup and you know we've got you ❤.In the past few days I've done my first post in ages, part of digging in again I think 🤣

Sounds like you've got loads going on, we only need bit of your time 😘😘

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply toJell6

Oh Jell6 …it’s good to hear you’re posting again, it’s like reminding us and yourself that you are a runner & part of the best forum in the world!! I know I can always come here & ask for support as much as give it through my admin role…I’m looking forward to reading your posts already! Thank you so much…we all have your back too xxx 🥰

Berksrover profile image

Life events do tend to impact on running motivation. I found that after I retired at the end of March and suddenly had all the time in the world to run , I was less inclined to do so. I think running was more important to me when I was working as an escape and doubly so last year through the lockdowns. I have recently started a plan that culminsted in the London Winter Run for Cancer Research next February and that has helped me rediscover my mojo. Will follow your reprise of C25K with interest but whatever you do you are and will remain a princess 👸🏼 xx

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply toBerksrover

I get that Berksrover ..I suppose having to make time while you were working made running seem more important whereas now you can take it or leave it anytime…& I bet while you were still working one of the best things was going to be running whenever you wanted??? Strange how things go?!! Sounds like you’ve made a great decision there, I’ll watch your progress too…and you’re the prince to my princess x 🤴🏼 😉

Yeayyyyyyy...So much going on for you...and even awesome Mamas...and YOU are...need to kick back and take some time to be kind to themselves! So good to see you and I shall be watching to see if you join us in the Catch up Corner when I post tomorrow ....

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply toOldfloss

Oh thank you Oldfloss …I know that you know what’s going on in my life & you absolutely ‘get me’ …I will def be joining you in catch up corner tomorrow as I am going to be more active on the forum now…I’ve made a decision & I’m sticking to it so where’s the best place to be when you’re a runner??? HERE!!! I’m looking forward to my 2nd journey down C25k lane…I took a leaf out of your book xx
