Thought I'd post a little update since I haven't in a while.
I've been chugging along pretty slowly, taking extra rest days between most runs to take it easy on my foot (I broke it a year ago & now have a screw permanently inside it - happily, so far it hasn't given me much trouble).
When I first hit W4D1, I simply was not able to complete the last 5 minute interval without slowing to a walk in the middle to catch my breath. Same thing happened two days ago, when I tried again, though that time I only walked for a few steps. Well, today I finally managed to complete the interval! It took everything I had to keep going at the end, but I'm proud I could do it.
(Before I get the usual advice about running more slowly, I am running as slowly as I'm physically able to)
Onwards to W4D2!

Fantastic! I'll be starting W3D1 this Saturday...worried and thrilled at the same time!!!
Brilliant running at a pace that suited you!! It's not nor has to be race well done 👍👍🌟
Many people actually have to jog at a pace that is slower than their fast walking pace. This is just fine, as it is an easy conversational pace that allows your body to adapt and develop optimally. If you cannot speak aloud, clear ungasping sentences as you jog, then your body is not getting the oxygen essential to this adaptation.........faster is not better and will actually slow your development.
As you get fitter, that pace will get faster.
You probably didn't want to hear any of that.........but it is the science behind body adaptation.
